  1. SIPG are paying him £11m a year!!
  2. In the season we signed Poch, he had managed 13 games in La Liga W2 D3 L8. I am not sure that anyone would have been over enthusiastic to sign him based on that. And as you say, the last full season scoring 46 goals, had Espanyol coming in in 14th spot, again hardly a ringing endorsement on the face of things. But someone made a pretty good decision to employ him so maybe we should have a bit of faith in those at the club.
  3. Even those idiot Mikes on talkSport think it a bad idea and that he needs to cut his cloth at a lower level. They compared Giggs to Stam and said that Giggs should do what Stam has done. But it would likely be "interesting" and I think exceedingly fool hardy to take the risk.
  4. Another one added to the ignore list.
  5. Reckon it will be FdB
  6. https://www.skybet.com/football/specials/manager-specials Claude is 4th fav for the Palace job. Would be interesting if he went there!!
  7. No, we are not removed from reality. We just want to be entertained. If we are in a stupid competition that we have pretty much zero chance of winning, what else other is there to expect? Entertainment. I went to every home game last season (save for the FA cup loss to Arsenal) and I think the most enjoyable game was the U23 victory against United. You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I can't agree with you. We started off the season with some diabolical diamond formation that the players could get used to, or maybe was badly thought out in the first place. And it is somewhat inconvenient to your argument that we actually got more points per game without VVD than when he was playing. Mané was a loss, but I do find it strange that people now see Pelle as being some world class striker that we should have kept. I liked him, but I do remember a lot of flack coming his way. And this season, he has managed to score 1 goal in 10 games - and that's in a league where someone of the skill you seem to attribute him, should be almost a goal a game.
  8. The problem Everton might face, is finding a striker who can get them 20+ a season, presuming Lukaku is off. They might have the money from selling him to buy one, but would one want to go to Everton?
  9. ....and having a successful (hopefully) PL football club might help sell/market the whole thing. Personally, having lived near a London club in the past, I wouldn't want to live anywhere near a football ground. But you look at Chelsea or maybe more so Spurs and their redevelopment, and there is a lot of non football stuff going on.
  10. Isn't it 10% or 3000 (or a tad more), which ever is less? Agree. They should ground share. But it is systemic of football that it is driven by money and profit. That unfortunately goes to the top ie the FA. They want as much revenue from their stadium and Spurs want 90k fans as opposed to 30k at MK Dons.
  11. I guess the value for them is as you say, buying the surrounding area and developing it. Not so much aimed at football, but deluxe apartments, marinas, hotels etc There's no reason why that won't be successful as Soton isn't exactly teeming with nice areas. Sort of Ocean Village Mk2 but more accessible.
  12. August looks good for my holidays. Not missing a game. Busy for WBA game and hope Arsenal might be moved as well, although I can make it. Apart from that, all looks OK.
  13. My problem with Redmond is that he seems to be able to play a blinder for one half, and not both. I am not sure whether it is the opposition changing their set up to nullify him or whether it is something else. He reminds me a bit of Sterling
  14. I wouldn't disagree, but still, the club haven't said anything about the situation. That in itself is pretty telling as if you were manager, you would hope your employer would come out and back you by saying that the stories were rubbish.
  15. It might be worth pointing out that the club actually hasn't said anything about keeping or replacing Puel. I know people will say that the Wilson article is the club speaking de facto, but all that has emerged is paper speculation based on Kreuger saying that there will be an end of season review and a French article asking if Puel will still be in charge. Couple those to the hopes of many supporters that he will be replaced and you can come to whatever conclusion you want.
  16. OK - fair enough. My biggest gripe with Dusan is his reluctance to sometimes take a shot when it is clearly on for him, and other times does a weak shot when it would be better suited for someone else.
  17. It might or might not be idiotic/moronic, but it is far from xenophiobic and I wish people would actually understand what xenophobia and racism/racialism is before casting aspersions. I am presuming that you are referring to "A sulky, petulant, skillful, diving, pouting, roll around on the ground, imaginary card waving East European that can't score a penalty consistently." Sulky and petulant - sure. Not all the time but too often last season. Skillful - yup Diving - can be known to do it. Pouting - not so sure about this one. Roll around on the ground - check Imaginary card waving - check Eastern European - check Can't score a penalty consistently - check. No xenophobia there what so ever. But as for your post scriptum, I agree, as well as agreeing with others not wanting to sell him. I think he might be better used in his preferred position as well.
  18. Problem with Delph is likely to be his wages. Supposedly on £90k at City. Question is, will he be prepared to take a cut? Will City pay some of it? etc etc. Otherwise it is the likes of WHU who will take him.
  19. So the "hard-of-thinking" sat behind you were, by your own admission, not wrong in their thoughts then???
  20. I am amazed how many times our fans trot out this loyalty bôllôcks time and again.
  21. I think you need to stop being so naive about this loyalty business.
  22. Is this an attempt to wind us up? If so, not sure it will work.
  23. Hmm, not really into rugby. Maybe cricket. Well I certainly had more enjoyment watching the national side play Australia today than I did watching them play Scotland.
  24. I'm so glad that my faith in the inability of football players to act in a gentlemanly manner nor treat their employers with due respect hasn't been changed due to this little saga. I imagine that there is more to come that will surely reinforce the opinions that I currently hold.
