The strangest thing I found was with Long. He very often seemed to be waiting for the ball over the top, thus using his pace but the ball never came instead passing around the midfield.
  2. CB, problem with that article is that it starts "Ambitious Saints" but as we all know, we lack ambition.
  3. Set to fight??? That means just asking for more money as a fee rather than saying "no".
  4. The difference being that back in the old days, the shirt maker was happy to have their logo on the sleeve leaving the crest to take centre stage.
  5. No vacancies anywhere. So looking at the top 7, they seem unlikely to be changing unless Koeman decides to leave. Which leaves the rest. West Ham, while they seem OK with Bilic maybe, would probably be a better job than us even if you have to deal with dildos. Palace is vacant, and they seem to be splashing the cash. Apart from that it is us.
  6. Tadic thinks he's a better player than he actually is. And let's not get on to the subject of his shooting.

    Puel out

I am not sure that anyone reliable has said that he is being sacked. There has been an awful lot of innuendo. I know someone who had a chat with Les when he was out about, and Les said no plans to sack Puel. Of course, Les couldn't come out and say that he was sacking him, but there has been little official. The hockey coach said that Puel would have a review post season, which I think is fairly normal whether you are staying or leaving. For one, it identifies what areas went well and what didn't. And yes, 8th and a Cup Final went well. What didn't was the interminably boring football served up and the points total. Now there has been an awful lot of smoke, and there's usually no smoke without fire, so maybe there is something in it. Certainly I think that the St. Etienne thing is probably true, but not so sure whether us looking to sack him is. Nor do I know whether the dressing room has been lost or not. This seems to all have stemmed from an article in L'Equipe asking whether Puel will still be in charge next season. Who knows, maybe St. Etienne have friends there and started some smoke signals? The UK press seemed to have jumped all over the L'Equipe story and have run with it for weeks now. With me, I think it is more the case that when it comes to football, I never bother taking what I read or what people say at face value. Much better to wait until something actually happens.
  8. Fabian Delph is another. Signed for £10m and in the 2 seasons he has been at Man City, he has hardly played for them. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabian-delph/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/50362/plus/0?saison=&verein=281&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=
  9. Not really sure that the 2yr vs 5yr left on a contract makes a huge difference these days. It does when you are in your last year, as clubs/players seem happy enough to wait 1 season, but not more than that.
  10. Has the club ditched Puel after 1 season?
  11. Actually thought our 0-0 draw at home to Liverpool, while a bit too negative on our behalf (prob due to LFC being in prime goal scoring form) was quite entertaining.
  12. Long is an easy target. He doesn't score enough goals, but he does make teams play differently. I would say that that then allows others to score, but there was a paucity of goals the whole season. Forster - it is interesting how opinions differ. This article says he is the worst, others say that he is something like 7th best. As far as I can recall, he had one good game all season (away at WBA). If McCarthy wasn't off games, I wonder whether he would be between the sticks.

So Duckie, can you explain something about this injury with VVD - why when he wasn't playing was our points per match gained higher than when he was playing? But you still don't get it. It's not about finishing 8th, its how we got to 8th.

Ah the fat **** with a grudge against us write another piece that some might think a load of ******** - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4535064/Shame-journeymen-players-managers-fired.html OK, he goes on about selling our best players and where do we expect to be, but these two quotes are what Ducky goes with. Puel's performance this season has been highly creditable, despite accruing 17 fewer points than last year. Eighth and a final is a decent effort. The first one is just plain wrong, and the second suggests (or maybe reinforces the fact) that he seems to be looking at the table rather than ever watching any of our matches. We are boring beyond belief. I sat through many games post cup final not really caring what was going on on the pitch as there was an inevitability about it all. The last goal we scored at home was on 5th April FFS. And how many headlines were there when "bore draw" was mentioned about our games? Plenty, but he seems to overlook that and it is creditable to finish 2 points above 13th. I wonder whether it would have still been a creditable season if we had got 2 fewer points? And like most journalists, he never seems to question the "them and us" nature of the PL.

How about this..... Last year the champions got 29% more points than us. The season before that, the champions got 45% more points than us. This year's champions got 102% more points than us.
  16. Ah Erica Roe. She certainly was well endowed. Love this photo: http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/police-at-twickenham-stadium-london-arrest-streaker-erica-news-photo/73022363?esource=SEO_GIS_CDN_Redirect#police-at-twickenham-stadium-london-arrest-streaker-erica-roe-after-picture-id73022363 (NB - NSFW)
  17. This losing 2 key players business..... VVD - ignoring the LCFC game when he was injured - pre injury W6, D6, L9. After he was injured W5, D4, L7. So broadly similar, or if you really want to look at things we averaged 1.143 points per game with VVD, and 1.188 per game without him. Austin - he played 10 games where he featured for more than 65 minutes. W3, D3, L4 with an average of 1.2 points per game, less than the season average of 1.2105 points per game.
  18. I know he failed in Italy, but how about FdB?
  19. Didn't see it from Kingsland
  20. You can agree with your Mrs to do a bit of procreation, slip it in, shoot your bolt after 5 seconds and get her pregnant. Successful but unrewarding.
  21. Probably Ducky, but playing more entertainingly also probably means winning more. Scoring goals would be a start.
  22. OK Sour, let me ask you a question. Were you entertained by the football on offer? After all football is an entertainment business, and seeing as we have pretty much zero chance of winning the league, I don't think it too much to expect to be entertained for the several hundreds of pounds some pay for their season ticket. If you are content to spend hundreds of pounds on turgid entertainment, then so be it. So were you entertained - yes or no?
  23. OK, I'll man up and take "he stays for next season".
  24. That's saying that 8th on 46pts is the same as 8th on 61pts. Its not the position but the complete lack of entertainment that is my problem. Hull at home sums it up for me. The worst game that I have seen for a long time.
