My email to the club concerningpre-game music and atmosphere
angelman replied to sifter's topic in The Saints
We oft get criticised for just having OWTS. Fine. But Liverpool, they sing YNWA and "Liverpooool, Liverpoool" and that's about it, isn't it? -

I think we all know why atmosphere is bad. Saints might not have been the most vocal anyway, but all seaters have done their job and more. It was brought in to stop in stadia hooliganism (and not to prevent another Hillsborough). Isn't it about time that we changed things back to as they were? Hillsborough can be avoided easily enough and was but one game out of tens of thousands to have problems. Now that we don't have fencing, and can control numbers better (hopefully). The other one that probably could be avoided easily enough is Ibrox (1971). So forget the songs being played over the PA, the way to improve atmosphere is to get "safe standing" and a decent size rather than a token irrelevance. At BOTH ends of the ground as well. To me the biggest difference between the Dell and SMS is that at SMS, one end behind the goal is even quieter than where I sit in the Kingsland, while at the Dell, the terraces at both ends made noise. -

Aren't Bournemouth supposed to be going in for him? No disrespect to them, but surely if that is his best option, we could trump them.

Are you his agent? Form might be temporary, but as a goalie you can't afford to have a long period of a loss of form. I do not think it unfair nor embarrassing to say that this lack of form has been going on all season. Of ALL the positions on the pitch, goalkeeper is the least affordable to have a blip. And now that you have told us we are being silly, can you tell us how long you think a team can put up with a loss of form from their goalie?
-
Of course it won't. We are a small club with no ambition, or so we are constantly being told on these boards. (I do wish people would be consistent on this point).

Not that it bothers me in the slightest (as I am secure in my support of Saints, accept where they are and am not going to change who I support), just musing with wry amusement, but I was listening to the talkSport this morning (I have no idea why I carry on with it!) and I just love the way that they introduce retired players and which clubs that they have played for. Today it was Razor Ruddock, ex Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham. That's fine, but he played 115 times for Liverpool, 50 times for Spuds and 42 times for WHU.....and 107 times for us. Happens all the time really.

I really can't see Forster getting a call up. Heaton, Butland, Foster, Hart and Pickford must all be ahead of him.

A post of sheer magnificence. One might have thought Apline, Pluto or Glasgow would come up with such a gem, but Charlie Boy, you have outdone them. Bravo mon vieux.

When was the last time you were in Milton Keynes?

The fans are the only ones loyal to the club. Owners generally own for their own reasons. Marcus didn't buy us out of some long term love of Saints. They come and go. Players are making a living. They come and go. We supporters are the one constant, although it was sad to see so many disappear when we were out of PL. There is the odd player like Franny who are Saints through and through without having his head turned. Steve Bull at Wolves was another.

All this legend business is risible, but if you have to hero worship a football player then so be it. He came to us for money, not love. He stayed with us for money, not love. He left us for money, not love. He is the same as 99% or more of players.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4299072/Premier-League-3pm-Saturday-kick-times.html Those in European competitions have an excuse, Liverpool & Chelsea don't (for footballing reasons).

If I had to have a guess, the club behaved pretty badly in not changing the contract that he signed 7 months earlier to one that he felt (in some self-aggrandised manner) he was due, even if it was increasing his pay by quite a lot. Horrid people at the top of the club for not bending over and taking it.!

What about Zlatan's stamp on Mings? That seems to have been ignored. Having preceded the "stamp" on the head, it might be relevant as it could be seen that Mings was getting retribution.

Question - is Alfie Jones better than Stephens? -
Express reporting Barca after both Romeu and Cedric.

TBF, Hazard can make a lot of people look gash.

I thought Wet Spam were the biggest club in the country with a huge number of STs. So why are there so many empty seats?
-
No one really. The only first team member that could be replaced, apart from Stephens is Forster
