He was holding his knee when with the physios on the pitch. Shortly prior to that, having lain on the ground for a short while looking for a foul, he then chased back and made the best tackle I have seen this season. While he can lose the ball quite often, he gets it back off people quite a lot too. Just imagine, when he doesn't lose it quite so much, wins it off people even more, he will be phenomenal. As it is at the present, he is good to watch. A little frustrating how he sometimes takes a touch too many. At least he has the arrogance to think he can beat everyone, and he has the quick feet to do so. I'm definitely a fan of his.

The Southampton Way is marketing speak brought about to deflect criticism of the way we run the club. It is designed to try and give the impression that we are in control of things like player sales. The only good thing about it is that the system of replacing the manager seems good and that the whole back room does not need replacing each time they go.

What's the forum going to do if Gardos has a good game, that is if he does play? Guess it might be a surprise to some that a £6m Champions League playing international might be any good.

The questions are as I see it.... - Was keeping JF at the club detrimental to the dressing room? Who knows? Some murmurings of unrest etc. - Is a, what turns out to be, Yoshida & Gardos/Stephens partnership weaker than a Yoshida & Fonte partnership? Still a little early to say, but I am sure that tomorrow will show us a bit more. And while I am on it, we do tend to forget why we signed Gardos for £6m and I think we are getting too blinded by his injuries. They may well prove to have been so serious as to make him not up to scratch, but I do think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. The FA Cup and U23 games aren't really a good yardstick, and pre-injury, what I saw of him was encouraging enough. Again, time will tell and like many, I agree that it does feel a weakness but then I do think that the club deserves to be trusted a bit on this, even if some of the results have been pretty dire.

It's more than that. It's boring and makes this forum a really tedious place to come. Sure things could be better result and personnel wise, but I am looking forward to Barry and Boufal tearing it up, Shlong leaving Fonte in his dust, Redmond continuing to improve. JWP maybe scoring another goal from open play (hope that that isn't going to be a twice a season thing). Romeu being dominant. Cedric and Bertrnad skipping down the wings and the CB over coming perceived weaknesses. But hey, that's just me.

I'm afraid to say that José had a rather inflated opinion of his abilities. He was OK with us, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. He wasn't getting better. He did well at the Euros but that rather belied the fact that he is so damned slow that he does tug people back an awful lot.

Problem with WHU is that they have no defensive midfielder protecting the CBs.

Sakho loan fee is £2m + wages of whatever. Say it is £100k a week as he is on at Liverpool. Loan to end of season say is 16 weeks away. So package might well be in the region of £3.6m for someone who hasn't played a senior game for Liverpool since 20th April 2016.
