  1. He's a good player at this level. I think he's been a bit unlucky in the Premiership.
  2. Are you saing that the parachute money might be diverted to pay off debts?
  3. 3 match ban for standard violent conduct which starts immediately, i.e. next competitive first team game. If the club appeals then this can possibly be increased by one if the appeal is held to be frivolous. Previous yellows are not affected but if it were two yellows in the same game that would count as one red with a consequent one-match ban. His ban is confirmed here: http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/SuspensionLists.aspx
  4. Grabbing a player by the collar is just as bad as pushing another away in the faceand both could count as violent conduct in my book. What was Morgan supposed to do to defend himself? The ref was losing control of the game by then and the sending-off was a consequence of this. If his control had been tighter from earlier on then this incident would probably not have happened. No doubt his assessor will have detailed it all in his report but it won't help Morgan, I'm afraid.
  5. It will probably be reported as 'violent conduct'. Anything above the top of the chest can be considered as such these days.
  6. They usually lead to cooling. Mount Pinatubo was the last that I remember. They also emit an enormous amount of CO2, which is where all the atmospheric CO2 is thought to have come from originally (including coal, gas and oil). Of course, without the CO2 there would be no plants, and hence no animals. http://geography.about.com/od/globalproblemsandissues/a/pinatubo.htm
  7. I have'nt had one of those for years
  8. I'm all for it. My slippers will need replacing one day so now I know where to go. Incidentally, why are they called 'slippers' if they stop you falling over.
  9. This article is all a little bit vague, really. I like the bit about 'greenhouse gases are much more effective higher up in the atmosphere where it’s colder'. That's also where they will have the least effect. None of the current models deal adequately with the effects of cloud cover, which one would expect to increase with the amount of water vapour. CO2 and other gases cannot account for 15-35% of warming or we would all have have frozen 1000 years ago.
  10. One big volcanic eruption has a much bigger effect than anything we have produced.
  11. Indeed, but water vapour is the most potent, and it is a natural phenomenon, but its production is dependent on global temperatures. The scientific debate is over whether, and by how much, the production of water vapour adds to man-made temperature rise by 'positive feedback'. All that I have found so far is 'we don't know'.
  12. Ah, but it wouldn't be the same Portsmouth, would it?
  13. If someone can't be bothered to read and correct what they write, then everything that they have published must be questioned.
  14. Hmmm... I'd rather be beaten by Leeds than Carlisle.
  15. I'm sure that if AP had wanted him we could have had him back on loan. I prefer a permanent signing, myself.
  16. This is where it should be: http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/JPTRulesAndRegulations/ 'coming soon....'
  17. Exactly. One mistake is all it takes.
  18. I've just found this http://www.johnstonespainttrophy.com/match-centre/2009-2010/area-finals-leg-1/mk-dons-v-southampton/ but it's not a video feed.
  19. From memory, I don't think so. Some kind person looked up the competition rules in an earlier thread.
  20. Yup, since 15th September 2003: (Enterprise Act 2002) http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/insmanual/INS48065.htm Exeter were the first club affected by it: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/exeter-test-case-for-inland-revenue-575089.html
  21. Water vapour is many times more significant. http://www.espere.net/Unitedkingdom/water/uk_watervapour.html Or how about Greenpeace? http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/climate-change/science/other_gases Water vapour is important .... "The exact size of this important feedback remains to be determined by scientists" This one is interesting, in particular the erudite responses: http://www.skepticalscience.com/water-vapor-greenhouse-gas.htm
  22. That has been the case with every scientist that I have ever encountered and is the reason why every time I see a report I look for the sponsor. Cui bono?
  23. It's not easy, is it? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~1915680,00.html Why can't there just be a list of fixtures with a link alongside each that takes you to the ticket details?
  24. You really can't expect wholesale changes in the team to play cohesively for at least 6 games, maybe 10 or more. We are working towards next season and if a playoff place comes along then we'll gratefully accept it.
  25. I think he is part of the long-term plan. I don't think he was chosen for this league but for the next two. Otherwise we ('they') would have appointed a proven manager at the level, such as Lambert, with a view to attracting someone a bit more heavyweight once we reached the promised land.
