Our 10 point deduction equates to a loss of 0.217 points per game, and if we apply it pro-rata to the season so far would give us 24.87 points and 11th position, just below Swindon. Our playing record to date is very similar to Millwall's but we had a poor start to the season and we now have Lambert, Hammond, Connolly and Waigo. I would expect us to finish comfortably above 10th, somewhere around the fringes of the playoff positions. To actually finish in the playoffs I think that we would need to beat those teams currently in positions 4 to 10, namely Colchester, Huddersfield, Bristol Rovers, Walsall, Millwall, MK Dons, Swindon.

No, he was offside on every occasion and it happens every game with different officials on the line. I've changed my mind a bit since the Brighton game where on one occasion our player (Connolly?) seemed to be at least three yards onside so I looked through the recording and to my surprise he was indeed offside. He's better than Antonio, though, and we should be able to beat his offsides out of him.

I started reading this thread without noticing the dates and it just shows how much opinions can change, but maybe that's because his performances have changed. Whether that is down to the manager, coaching, atmosphere at the club or the attitude of the player is open to question, or maybe he is more suited to playing in a lower league.

I was very impressed by him last night, and it takes a lot to impress me. He was hardly a gift though, didn't we pay £1m for him?
-
At least 4 season ticketers behind me weren't there, but I don't know if that affected it. I know of someone who works evenings so he and his 11-year old son wasn't there either. That, the cold weather, school next day, a small number of away fans, it all adds up. Was Markus there? I didn't see him. That would be another one less.

There was one occasion in the second half when I was watching him. He was holding his position a couple of yards offside waiting for the pass and of course he was flagged for it as soon as the pass came to him. Every body around me was screaming 'get onside' at him. We can all see it, there's no excuse about playing at a higher level or being too quick for the assistant referee, it's just something that he needs to work at because it cost us posession in several good attacking positions. You simply can't blame the referees, the rest of the team, the lack of a language, and so on....
-
They should be level with the second to last defender and I have verey rarely seen them out of position. Every one of the offsides last night was spot on correct, but that is not the point. It is up to the attacker to play such that he is not given offside. Plenty of others manage to do it without any problems, why can't he? I'm sure that with more specialist training he could be taught to stay onside more.

I've just looked on the traffic England site. M3 southbound betwee J11 & J13 delays of about 10mins due to heavy traffic. Likewise A34 southbound between A303 & A33 10 mins. M27 westbound at J12 delays of 15mins caused by earlier accident, average speed 26mph. M27 westbound between A3M & M275 delays of 20mins due to heavy traffic, average speed 5mph. All at 18:26.

We've been through all this on another thread and I suspect I know why this thread has been started. In all my years I have never known Boxing Day to be anything other than the 26th December, butI shall probably be going to Colchester on Monday 28th December. I had a look at the train schedules the other day and it looks like engineering work on the Liverpool Street lines: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/2009/12/28/__/engineeringworks.html#en230ccfc68040f1b7a560c75ab9ae1f

So what would the East coast derby be? Ipswich v Newcastle?
-
Tell that to our government: 'For example in 2009, Boxing Day is actually on Saturday, 26 December, so there is a substitute bank holiday on Monday, 28 December.' ( http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/LivingintheUK/DG_073741 )

Competition: My advice to Alan Pardew is ...

The usage has varied over the years and these terms mean different things to different people. Who is to say what is right and what is wrong? `When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'

Can't we even discuss your findings?

Maybe He was ****ged out after creating another galaxy and we were next on His list?

Did you find that site yourself, or did it find itself for you? It's no wonder Davies's form has dipped if he's been doing so much extra-curricular activity.
-
Indeed, but I suspect it's a matter of who we can get to come and play for us in league 3.

It's great this internet thing: http://www.sufc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10418~18990,00.html Injured at the moment and out for a few more weeks yet, so perhaps we don't want him back if he's a crock: http://www.football.co.uk/sheffield_united/injury_could_end_davies__loan_296885.shtml

That's what I would have said. Real beer in real wooden barrels. I suppose it's still there? The stream under the humpback bridge is the boundary between Berkshire and Hampshire.

Notts County, Nottingham Forest & Trent Bridge:

I hope all goes well for them. Traditional football clubs like Rotherham are the life and soul of English towns. I see that they had to lodge a bond of £750,000 in order to play outside the town's boundaries and they have to return within four years (by August 2012?) or lose their golden share.

It was from someone whose information I respect but I put it no higher than a rumour. I was expressing concern that if anything should happen to our saviour, the club should still be adequately financed and the reply wasto that effect. I do not know the original source, but I may probe a little deeper. I am fully confident that our beloved club is in safe, professional hands and this would seem to me to have been an appropriate course of action. This does not, of course, mean that such a sum would be forthcoming to be splashed around in a Burley-esque fashion.

I could tell you but then I'd have to tie you up and put you in a Saints kit and leave you at Fratton Park on a matchday morning.
