Normally the fax will acknowledge itself, but there might be a cleaner sitting next to the machine with a mug of tea and a few mince pies.

Good, I'm pleased for them and they could certainly do with the money. They've been hit much harder than we have with the points deductions but I'm sure they'll be back. I think they should make the most of their big day out, though, and leave the 4th round to us.

American Football has an interesting system. The team that finishes bottom has first pick of the next season's college draft, and every team has a maximum amount that it can spend in total on players' wages, no matter how many players they have. Look at how varied the Superbowl winners are to see how it works. Mind you, franchises there can up sticks and move to another city thousands of miles away.
