Isn't there a slight contradiction between those two sentences? We don't know what the weather is going to be but we should be concerned that we are having an effect on it?
(Interesting use of 'effect' instead of 'affect' there. Was that intentional?)
Well said Minty. I did a quick check yesterday and over the last couple of months or so there has been over 30cm of rainfall in the West Country. Trying to hold that back for slow release later is only going to be effective in the short term and once the water table has been elevated there's nowhere for the excess to go.
Interesting Portsea inbred logic there. Their capacity is 21,100 so on that basis they have only averaged 71%. I call that far more than a fifth empty anyway, 28,000 is a hell of a lot more than 15,000.
Very interesting. Of course, these are national figures and it makes a big difference if it were all to be dumped on Carlisle, say, rather than London. I seem to remember that 1967/1968 was a very floody year?
I used to have a little Manneken Pis statue with a corkscrew for a willy but somebody tried to use it to open a bottle of wine with it and now it's just a Manneken
It all depends on what fires your frites. There are some nice restaurants, Rue des Bouchers is the most famous but many consider it a tourist rip-off. The Atomium is interesting but you will need a tram trip to get there. There is a quirky little museum of the comic strip and some other art museums near there
