Saints 2 Huddersfield 0 - Match & Reactions Thread
Sheaf Saint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
In all fairness, this is a very much cobbled together second 11 who will have never played together in this formation before. It's no great surprise they aren't tearing Hudds a new one. But yeah, overall, nobody is really taking the chance to impress. -

Good delivery from JWP but keeper did very well to come out and clear it. -

OK - Adams should have done much better with that chance. -

Not sure how you can judge Adams when he has had literally no service so far. Hudds sitting deep as well so there's very little space for him to operate in. -

Yep, replay shows it was a clear shirt pull but outside the area. -

Yet to see a replay of it but it seems so. Surprised it wasn't even checked by VAR. -

Is this Hudds away kit with no sponsor on it? I'm confused. Their home kit is blue and white stripes. -
Edit: duplicate post.

Firstrow are showing as having some links for it as well.

I'm assuming the answer is no but does anybody know if there is likely to be any streams available today?

That's just not accurate. He's never had a prolonged run in the team, and on the few occasions he has been played he has looked very promising, like when he came on as a sub and changed the game in our win against Spurs last season.

***SPOILERS*** I'm gonna miss Ashford. Didn't like him at first but he was a great character. His death was a superb cinematic sequence as well. Also wondering if Drummer is going to return in season 5, given her departure from Medina station at the end of this season. I liked her too.

Didn't seem to hinder Donnie Trump's election campaign though, as it should have done.

My nephew in the Everton academy has done some games as ball boy, and I asked him about this. He said they were never explicitly directed to be slow when the away team got a throw, but it was very clearly implied that they should "use good sense". I imagine it is pretty much the same everywhere.

Hmm, surprised at those three really. To include McCarthy would suggest he had a lot to do to keep Spurs out, which he didn't. And with all due respect to Bertrand and Bednarek, who both played a part in a good team performance, I don't really think they were the two standout outfield players.
-
Would you care to enlighten those of us who don't have a subscription to the Times paywall who the three players were? I'm assuming Ings is one of them, but there are plenty of contenders for the other two spots.

I think it's the latter. He's always been talented and shown great composure on the ball, but his biggest downfall has always been his ability to switch off, lose his man and/or make howlers which have gifted goals to the opposition. These sort of drawbacks can be coached out of a player and overcome with experience.

Director of Football Operations Replacement Thread

So he's due to start "Early 2020". Does anyone have any insight as to how early this might be? -
Yep, me too. He looked like a broken man earlier in the season, but we now seem to be back to the kind of performance level we saw when he first came in last season. I simply don't know enough about what goes on behind the scenes to say whether or not having an assistant is the main factor in our recent upturn in performance, but it would seem to fit. We're much more disciplined defensively now, and that has to be down to the coaching. We've also got Matt Crocker due to join in the technical director role very shortly as well, but he may well have been having some degree of influence already. I think another big factor is the inclusion of Armstrong in midfield - he's been a revelation and is now putting in the kind of performances that he was always clearly capable of but never quite managed on a regular basis.

2-0 to the Ar$e now. Oh well, 11th place was nice for a few hours.
-
4-0 down now. One more goal for WHU and their GD will be level with ours.
