Holy crap that was lucky. So many times those deflections divert the ball into the empty net. -

FFS Dean blows his whistle every time a Spurs player falls over. And they know it as well - they're desperate to con him into giving them a penalty. -

Not impressed with Mike Dean, as usual. That's twice in the last few minutes there has been a blatant foul on a Saints player and he's completely ignored it. -

Oh dear JWP. Can't be giving the ball away to Kane like that and expect to get away with it. Lucky boy. -

Not really any choice today with Boufal suffering a recurrence of his toe injury. But I agree overall, he's been very ineffective this season. -

Good chance for Redmond, but he never scores them. Always a weak shot too easy for the keeper. -

What was that header all about? He had the freedom of the Spurs box but completely fluffed it. -
Did you not read the bit where he said 'replace' Cedric in January?
-
I completely agree. But that isn't actually a problem with the technology itself, it is how it is being applied. There were always going to be some teething issues when it was first introduced, and even the FA/PL aren't so blinkered as to be blind to the current criticisms. I am 100% certain there will be a full review at the end of the season and a number of refinements and rule changes brought in for next season.

It's not often I agree with Batman, but to suggest he isn't a real football fan because he has a different opinion on VAR than you do is absurd. Like any new technology, it will take time to perfect. Yes, it seems like it is not being used especially well with some of the disallowed goals we have seen recently, but if having it will prevent the kind of injustice such as Gabbi's opening 'goal' in the EFL cup final in 2017 then it can only be a good thing IMO.

Happy enough with the point really, as Palace were compact and disciplined at the back. Can't really blame anyone for their goal - it was a clear foul by Redmond, a well worked and delivered FK and a perfect header in off the bar. I thought we were the much more likely team to win after we equalised, and the fact that their keeper was MOTM says it all. Seems like it's been a long time since that happened. Overall, can't grumble at 7 points from our last 3 games. Would have snapped your hand off for that beforehand. And despite dropping a position with Brighton winning, we increased our cushion over the bottom 3 to 4 points. I think/hope that having clawed ourselves out of the drop zone it will make us a bit more attractive to any potential transfer targets in January.

That's an unbelievable miss from Bednarek!
-
Hojbjerg, who has been abysmal this season. Move Stephens up into the middle and play Yoshida and Bednarek at CB.

Ah yes. I appear to have blocked that out of my memory for some reason! -

Just watched the MOTD highlights and Shearer was rightly scathing in his criticisms of Villa. As bad as we have been at times this season, we have never been anywhere near as open as they were. I'm starting to finally believe that there actually are three worse teams than us after all. -
Remind me again, what is one the Brexiteers' favourite criticisms of the EU? Something about unelected bureaucrats?
-
Of course, Zac Goldmsith from 2012 would never support such a corrupt carving up of democracy...

Yeah, a true 'People's' government, which just happens to include a minister who lost his seat by nearly 8,000 votes but still gets to stay on by being given a life peerage instead. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/dec/19/zac-goldsmith-handed-life-peerage-and-keeps-environment-role People's government my ar$e.

Liverpool have the clout to do that though. we don't. We usually have to wait until near the end of the window once a few moves have already happened, as players realise that their agent isn't going to get them a better move than struggling little old Southampton.
