The form / state of mind that Mane has been in lately, I would put a half-fit Long or even J-Rod in ahead of him. He's been completely anonymous for a long time now and looked like he really couldn't be bothered last night. We can't afford to be complacent with this one. I watched some of Sunderland's game at West Ham on saturday and they caused the WH defence a fair few problems, but let themselves down with poor finishing. They will be up for this game and we need to be too.

Why the hell does Tadic have to slow down the attack every time? Without fail he refuses to play the early ball to the runner in the channel, and comes back inside, dithers for a few seconds whioch allows the defenders to regain their shape, and then plays a sideways ball into CM. It's no f*cking wonder we look so toothless in attack.

Finally, in the 87th minute, we finally give Boruc something to think about. Dreadful performance all round.

The worst thing is that Bournemouth haven't been anyway near as good as they have been at times this season, and we are just gifting them a comfortable win by playing absolute sh*te. Not one single player out there has given a good account of themselves tonight. Just totally lacklustre all over the pitch. It's like watching us when we were in our bad spell. No ideas going forward and always looking like conceding a goal or two. We could play til midnight and still wouldn't score.

We've just not been able to compete in midfield. Every time we win the ball back they are all over us in an instant and we can't find a decent forward pass to our strikers who are isolated and feeding off scraps. Really need to up our game in the second half. What the hell has happened to Mane? He's a shadow of the player he was in the second half of last season.

Why is Mane constantly back in defence near the D trying to win the ball back? He needs to be up the pitch ready to receive an out-ball when we win it back.

Shape is all wrong. The wing-backs aren't giving enough cover for the CBs and they are getting far too much time and space down the wings, drawing the CBs out too wide and leaving huge gaps in the middle. I think Ron needs to recognise that his 3 preferred 3 CB setup isn't going to work tonight and switch to a back 4.

Can't say they didn't deserve it on balance, but frustrating to see our defence, which has been so solid in recent games, give away two soft goals. Once Long sent off we were completely blunt as an attacking force. Pelle couldn't keep the ball and Mane couldn't stay inside. Have we ever won after a 2-week break?

Well that's an annoyingly soft goal to concede.
