  1. And Tottenham winning now too.
  2. Leicester 1-0 against WH.
  3. Ha! What was the actual story there? I know it's stuff of Saintsweb legend, but I don't think I ever knew the details of it?
  4. Who was the Arsenal player who received a lengthy ban for breaking Glenn Cockerill's jaw?
  5. There's been a few people who were very active on the political threads who have just vanished recently. Verbal was another one. I remember the days when political and religious threads weren't allowed due to being too polarising and inevitably would become abusive. It's a shame that they are now pretty much the only threads in the lounge, because there used to be a lot of interesting discussions in there. I reckon that could be one of the reasons why lots of old posters stopped bothering.
  6. This is all sound logic, but we have really struggled to beat teams below us in recent seasons. Didn't we go about two years without beating a newly promoted team? Actually, ignore that because we have already won all three of those games this season so far - Sheff Utd and Villa away, and Norwich at home. The signs are good indeed.
  7. But it would cost us around that much to replace him though. Spend any less than that and there's no guarantee that the replacement would actually be any better. I like Che, and I think he will only improve with more game time. Like others have said, it's not all about goals, as proven by Shlong. He has a decent touch and looks like an intelligent player too, with the ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play. I would be very disappointed if we offloaded him to Leeds without ever getting to see his full potential.
  8. It was Delldays (now Batman) who promised he would eat his own sh!t if we made the playoffs in 2007. We're still waiting for confirmation.
  9. In all fairness to Vestergaard, following that early giveaway he didn't really put a foot wrong. But then, he wasn't really exposed as Palace were mostly woeful in our half all evening.
  10. Yeah I reckon so. It's great to see JWP adding some togh tackling and general sh!thousery to his game. It's long overdue.
  11. He is to Danny Ings what Brett Ormerod was to James Beattie. A perfect foil. Never gonna score many goals but is a constant thorn in the side of defenders which creates space for the natural finisher to do his job.
  12. Yeah he was. I had a lot of behind the scenes interaction with him during my brief stint as a mod. We had a shared interest in music production and he very kindly did some mastering work on one of my early projects. Had a genuine passion for Saints as well. Good bloke, gone too soon.
  13. Ouch. That's a horrendous run of games. Has their new manager bounce worn off yet? I reckon they could well still be in the thick of it after that, with only 5 games left to save themselves. Could be interesting.
  14. I believe he passed away a while back, didn't he?
  15. Well, except the check on the Zaha/JWP incident as they were leaving the pitch at HT.
  16. And no team outside the top 4 has won more either.
  17. I duuno, I think it keeps things nice and tight down there. Watford would have climbed higher up the table if they had held on to their lead.
  18. There seems to be only one mod who's ever on here regularly these days, so we can't expect him to do everything himself. When I visit other forums they all seem to have just one thread for each game - build-up, in-play and reaction. It seems this is about the only one where we have to have separate ones.
  19. I had a sneaky feeling we might get something tonight so I had us for a win in my accy, and only Bournemouth beating Brighton let me down. Superb performance throughout the whole team, even Vestergaard played well. JWP did a right number on Zaha, again! Surprised he kept his cool and stayed on the pitch really. If Hojbjerg could play like that every game then he would be the player we all hoped he would be when he signed. Makes you wonder why his passing is usually so poor when it was really good tonight. I'm gonna give my MOTM to Redmond. A goal and an assist, doing really well for each, and he was a constant threat to the Palace back line.
  20. That was a ******* superb tackle from JWP.
  21. Who's this Scottish co-commentator on the stream? Is he blind? Reckons there was no contact on JV from Guaita but it was quite clearly his elbow that caught him.
  22. I'm not suggesting Romeu didn't deserve that yellow, but given what the ref has let slide already tonight it's laughable really.
  23. He literally just passed it to the keeper FFS.
  24. Hmmm. Not sure how 3 Saints players conspired to let Zaha get to that inside our area then TBH.
  25. 66/1 on Bet365 if anyone fancies it. Sounds generous to me, given his frame of mind right now.
