With Cedric's shooting ability, I highly doubt it!

https://twitter.com/SouthamptonFC/status/940869941280026625 On this day in 1997, Franny Benali scored his first and only career goal in a 2-1 win against Leicester. I was listening on Solent and genuinely thought they had made a mistake when they read out the scorer. I would ask who we have in the squad for tonight that is long overdue a goal, but it probably applies to pretty much our entire midfield and defence, with the exception of Yoshida.

Nope. No chance it was accidental. He knew full well he wasn't going to get to that and he's clearly still looking down at Virgil's ankle long after the ball has gone. Dirty little c*nt who deserves to be taken out in a VVD/Romeu sandwich.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Sheaf Saint replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
I saw this on Twitter earlier but I must confess I Know nothing about him. Can anyone provide an assessment of his prospects? -
I'm not so certain. Vardy is a snidey little c*nt and VVD had him in his pocket the whole game up until that point. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if his actions were deliberate.
-
VVD to take one for the team by taking him out? I expect the odds on that are better than evens. However, I expect any clued up ref will be aware of the possibility and might be looking to punish anything that looks like retribution overly harshly.
-
It wasn't. It was more of a dig at the general view that has been posted by a number of contributors to the thread previously.

Another start, another goal. And with slightly better luck could have had a hat-trick, against one of the teams that will undoubtedly be challenging for the CL spots come the end of the season. But yeah, he's too slow and clearly only Championship level
-
Very annoying to concede late on yet again. Arsenal had been overall the better team, but up to that point the only real chance we allowed them was the one that Forster saved very well in the first half, so we were good value for the win in that respect. But a draw is probably a fair result. PEH my MOTM. Excellent again today.

JWP not having the best game but he's probably worth keeping on just for his dead ball delivery. Redmond, on the other hand, has contrived to completely waste every chance to break forward he has been given, often under no pressure as well. Quite what he does in training to get picked ahead of Boufal I don't know. He's been shockingly bad this season.

What an incredible start. Should be 2-0 up already
-
Could it be a back 4 with Yoshida at RB?
-
Yeah I clocked that too. Either it's a schoolboy error from the BBC lacky who typed it up, or Lawro is going senile.

Darren Anderton.

Revealed! The 'luckiest' referee for every Premier League side
Sheaf Saint replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Got to be Kevin Friend, surely? -
Yeah this is the key with Austin. If you look at not just the goals he has scored in recent games but the chances he has had, when he gets a sniff of a possible chance coming he know instinctively how to move quickly into a pocket of space to receive a cross or cutback. Look at the Bournemouth goal for instance... The defender was tracking him but when the ball goes out to Redmond, Charlie just steps back a little to make that room to receive what only needed to be a simple ball from Nathan in the end. He makes it look so easy.
-
Dunno. Remember the penalty that was given against us at Arsenal a few years back for a tiny little shirt pull that didn't in any way stop the player getting to the ball (Might have been Hooiveld?) You just knew it wouldn't have been given at the other end.

The quote from Steve Claridge on the BBC sums it up for me. What if one of those players who shouldn't have been on the pitch went on to score a winning goal and Spurs had taken the title? The Leicester fans would have been rightly p!ssed, and you can bet that Clottenburg would never have made this admission if that had been the case.
-
The stupidity here is that he believes Spurs would have blamed him for costing them the title if he had dished out a couple of red cards. But the only people who would have borne the responsibility of that would be the players themselves who collectively lost their heads on the night. If he had applied the rules correctly there could have been no complaints at all.
-
It's the referee's job to apply the rules fairly and correctly, regardless of which teams are playing and what is at stake, not to have a 'game plan' before a match begins. What a pr!ck.
-
Who is suggesting that?
-
Yeah I don't think he got it right today. Having seen both Hoj and Lemina play well in the last two games, he reverts to a CDM pairing that we know doesn't work very well with Davis. It's taken him almost half a season to work out that Redmond and Tadic are more effective when you play them on their preferred sides. This constantly rotating Hoedt and Yoshi is just insane. It's obvious that Yoshida is the better player so why keep leaving him out? Hoedt cost us badly today. Realistically, we should have beaten Bournemouth today. But due to setting up all wrong from the start we gave them the whole first half and were lucky to be only 1-0 down at the break. Two decent performances in the last week, and the manager learns nothing from them. Poor stuff really.
-
Had chances to win it in the second half, but then we were lucky to be only 1-0 down at HT, so I guess a draw is a fair result in the end.
