  1. On the verge of breaking into the playoffs and we crap the bed. It's the same old script.
  2. IMO he's our key player. If he stays fit we are in the mix, if not then I think we'll fall out of contention.
  3. Wrexham look strong but Hull have only won 2 of their last 8, have no points in March and on Tuesday could be 4 points ahead having played a game more. We have won 5 and drawn 1 and have just beaten a decent prem team at their own place. We are still very much in this.
  4. Bottle that performance and bring it out for all our remaining games and we'll be well set for a prem return. No doubt Fulham would have wanted to win which makes it all the more impressive.
  5. I was there, you could feel the air getting sucked out of the stadium before that one went in. No pressure. Wasn't that also the season Glen Cockerill got his jaw broken by Paul Davies? Punched from behind if I remember correctly. We had a really good start that season and went downhill after that game.
  6. Britney Spears and Brad Pitt follow the Saints, just don't tell them which Saints they'd be buying. I'm sure they wouldn't notice. https://www.ranker.com/list/celebrity-saints-fans/pedro-cerrano
  7. When you look at the 'must win' fixtures you'd fancy our chances on a game by game basis but to win 8 out of 8? Not impossible but incredibly tight. I do think we could get at least a point from Ipswich. We will need at least a draw with Wrexham. A point not much talked about on here is that goal difference may also be crucial so we need to hammer the lesser teams as much as possible. Wrexham's last 2 games are Cov(a)\Boro(h), our last 2 are Blackburn(h) and Preston(a). Go into the last 2 games with at least +6 GD on Wrexham and I doubt they make that up, even if Cov\Boro are already guaranteed top 2. Hopefully they are not in which case Wrexham will be in trouble. If it's that tight then GD is an extra point for us.
  8. Alan Shearer wasn't anything special for us.
  9. Feels a bit like 2 seasons ago except back then we were chasing down top 2 rather than playoffs. We went on a huge unbeaten run, got into position to break through and promptly bottled it ending up in playoffs. IMO 75 is the minimum and we have some tricky fixtures left. It's on a knife edge.
  10. Some managers just fit certain clubs and I get the feeling he just fits this one. He's taken stick but you can't get on his back too much with that record. He's also getting better as the games go on and he gets a better feel for team formation\selection. Whatever he does from now on in at least I've had more fun watching his teams than I ever did for Jones, Selles, Martin, Juric, Rusk and Still. It's been the most fun since Ralph left in 2022.
  11. Just had a look at the fixtures - Wrexham are on track for 73/74 points - IMO that means 75 points is the target for playoff contention. That's 25 points from 12 games. Need to target the 6 home games (Norwich, Oxford, Ipswich, Derby, Bristol City, Blackburn) - some decent teams in there. We will also need 2-3 away wins (Sheff Wed, West Brom, Swansea)? TBH it looks tough.
  12. Good result, we did to QPR what I was hoping we'd do to Charlton. With such a tight table GD may become very important come the home stretch so +5 is very welcome. Let's hope we add to that on Saturday.
  13. Typical Saints, work yourself into a decent position and then bottle it. Knowing us we'll beat Coventry at their place in a month's time to balance this one out. What a downer.
  14. Looking at the fixtures this w\e... Derby away to Watford Wrexham home to Ipswich Preston away to Blackburn Bristol away to Swansea Birmingham away to Norwich. 4 aways and a tough home. No doubt about it, this w\e is a great opportunity to leapfrog our rivals, maybe even sneak into playoffs?
  15. Good stuff, always good to be in the cup, some of my best memories are from cup games. We're not going to win it but hopefully we'll at least get a tie with a decent prem team and a memorable day out. Also keeps the momentum up, never a bad thing to be winning whatever the competition.
  16. Tonda is a funny one isn't he? Looks like a deer in the headlights but back in November he was the first manager in ages who got my pulse working, Granted he stopped it again either side of Xmas but now he seems to have restarted it. I don't know what the secret is - Hypnosis? Voodoo? Maybe just a jammy sod? Either way his teams have at least provided some much needed entertainment in what was shaping up to be a depressing season. Sometimes a manager just fits at a club. This was a big big game, next 5 are Charlton (h), QPR (h), Sheff Wed (a), Norwich(h), West Brom(a) - all winnable fixtures as long as the players don't go back to sleep. Amazingly the playoffs are seriously opening up. Keep it up Mr Jammy, I've stopped caring what your secret sauce is, I'm just enjoying the highs.
  17. A good time to get them I'd say. They are still not a bad team though so a draw would be good IMO.
  18. Smart move by Wolves to get a good champ striker before they go down, we should be asking for more than 7M though.
  19. Right now I'm more interested NFL playoffs and how the 6 nations is going to go. SR have destroyed any interest in this club.
  20. Wins a win but looks like we made very hard work of it. We should have put them to the sword but we stumbled over the line.
  21. Tonda looks like a rabbit in the headlights and the players don't seem to give a toss but they are the symptoms, not the cause. Ultimately the buck stops with SR. Ever since they have been at the club it's been downhill, the brief upturn with promotion just papered over the cracks. Maybe we'll escape relegation this season but their utter incompetence will see us slide down the leagues. If they are telling the mgr how to set up the team then that says it all for me. How far down is their level? L1\L2? Even lower? Can't see a turnaround while they are here.
  22. I don't know what's happened, back in November the clouds seem to have finally lifted and the team was playing fast attacking football with huge success, we looked odds on for playoffs and even a tilt at top 2. Now they have gone back to stodge ball. Some people on here are saying it's SR but if it is then why were they happy to allow the November form to continue? As incompetent as I think they are I don't think it's them - they want us to win like anyone else. Looks to me like a combination of a manager that has lost his balls and a bunch of players who are comfortable playing under performing stodge ball. 4-4-2 please and show some fight! I'd rather lose playing attacking football that dying of Russball boredom.
  23. Get back to the flowing football of November and we can win. Tonda actually saw the results for himself so why have we regressed back to stodgy Russball?
  24. Crazy, a month ago we were playing some really good stuff and now we are all over the place. Have we been sussed? Mgr has changed tack? Players gone back to sleep? We have all seen that the team has the ability so Tonda it's time to earn your salary.
  25. I don't know why he gets picked over McCarthy, IMO AM is clearly the better GK. If the club don't fancy AM the we need someone new. If GB's not replaced he's going to seriously cost us.
