"they had their greedy snouts in the Holiday Inn trough." Make that the more expensive Marriott. where they tend to put up all their players. Or at least they did, unless they've wised up after being stiffed so many times.

Popped over to the Anne Frank Museum? To see Rembrandt's Night Watch in the Rijksmuseeum? The Sunflowers in the van Gogh museum? I like to think our Nige is a very cultural sort of chap.

According to reports, Big Fat Sam is about to swoop down like a greedy vulture and pluck Paul Robinson away from Blackburn. Now that raises some interesting questions. If he signs Robinson it could leave him with four goalkeepers to pick from, Green, Henderson, Robinson and Sam Cowler. Does it mean a) that Robinson would be his number one, leaving a miffed Green keen to get away? b) that Cowler, a promising 19-year-old academy product, would be shown the door? c) that Robinson, Green and Henderson would all be competing for the first-team jersey (a very healthy, if expensive, situation for BFS)? d) that he would prefer to have Green and Robinson competing for a place, in which case Henderson would be surplus to requirements? If so, is that proof that Henderson's signing was purely a ruse to keep p****y going so Wet Sham didn't lose the points? e) that somehow, Wet Sham find a little legal loophole whereby they do not go through with the purchase of Henderson, but send him to hoover up more wages at p****y. All this, of course, is on the presumption that Wet Sham beat Blackpool in the play-off final, something I'm by no means convinced they'll do.

Adkins has done a fantastic job, deserves every chance to take Saints forward and I think he will. But if we have a bad first five games, you wouldn't want this bloke hanging around in the background...http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17950830

"The GFA are covering the costs of Portsmouth to come over, as they have done for previous English sides such as Bury and Rochdale." So now we know how the GFA see pompey.

What fills the void for you in the summer months?

God help West Brom. If Appleton was that good, they wojuldn't have let him go in the first place. Of course, they'll argue that he's now got some managerial experience under his belt, but what is that experience of? Fighting fires? Failing to motivate and set up a team from a group of players that were plainly good enough to overcome a 10-point penalty and stay in the division? West Brom shouldn't touch him with a barge pole at the moment. If he succeeds in bouncing pompey straight back into the Championship, then gt him in. At the moment he's associated with and tainted by, failure. Unlike another young manager who has engineered four promotion campaigns in his short career. Still, we shouldn't complain. If West Brom do appoint Voldemort, that's one of the relegation places we won't have to worry about next season.

Of course we have a great relationship with the press. It's why Paul Hayward mentioned it. We take the **** out of pompey's insularity and "No one likes us, we don't care" mentality, yet that's what some people on here seem to be advocating. The press don't expect clubs to roll over and spread it for them. They know that these days, that's not going to happen, but what they don't like is people being brazenly obstructive to them. They view it as an affront to their ability to carry out their job. 'So what?' you might ask, 'We don't need them.' In the words of General George Patton: "It's better to have them on the inside of the tent ****ing out, rather than the outside of the tent ****ing in." Besides which, there are conventions laid down by the Premier League, and Saints media operation will have to abide by them.

Di Canio will be in there before the start of next season, regardless of what happens.

Picture 18 on the OS gallery shows the ball was under-inflated and the game played with a ball of illegal pressure. This is clearly a breach of the laws of the game and somebody should inform Mr S Allardyce, c/o West Ham Utd, in order that he can ask the authorities to deduct the points from Southampton FC.

I hope you didn't waste the opportunity to remind him who the manager was at p****y who embarked on this reckless spree to sign players on wages they couldn't afford, thus laying the foundations for their current plight. I'm sure he won't do the same at Spurs.

Very necessary, especially when you have to shove a decent, god-fearing Christian who very few people in the game have a bad word for, up front as the acceptable face of the club.

It doesn't mention Shaving Ryan's Privates.

Why would you got to Fareham on Friday morning?

If you've got any Zebra fish my son will help you out and give them a good home. He's doing a Phd at Oxford in Genetics and his field of research is congenital heart disease using Zebra fish. Zebra fishes' heart muscles regenerate after suffering heart disease and they're trying to isolate the genetic code in Zebra fish that enables them to do that and transplant it into humans. Very worthwhile research, but you might not get your Zebra fish back intact.

He doesn't spell his name Kris through any affectation or ponceyness. He was given that name by his parents. His dad was a highly respected sports journalist, Cliff Temple, who was athletics correspondent for The Times. Kris follows in his dad's footsteps and is a good radio journalist. You might think he's antagonistic towards Adkins, but he's actually doing the job that you licence payers should be demanding of BBC journalists. All BBC journalists adhere to the Producers' Guidelines which sets out that journalists should be objective, and in carrying out that objectivity ask the sort of questions that other arms of the media with a vested interest might not ask. It's a difficult tightrope to walk sometimes with the *****ly, sensitive souls that inhabit football clubs. Of course the Solent journos want to see Saints in the Prem. They want the opportunity to cover them in the top flight, but they can't show it. Kris is professional in remaining objectve. It's why people trust the BBC all over the world.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .

There's a lot of assumption that West Ham will win their fnal two games. I'm not entirely sure they will. -

I like this bit from their website, under Our Services, Sport Stadia "Our reputation for discretion and delivering bespoke advice has seen us act for over 25 Clubs across a whole range of property issues. Whatever our involvement, our service is always professional, confidential and discreet. Examples of the work we have undertaken include: West Ham United FC - The valuation of stadium and training facilities on a Depreciated Replacement Cost (DRC) basis for accounts purposes. Selhurst Park - The sale of the ground in 2006 as a freehold investment, let to Crystal Palace FC. Southend United FC - Detailed analysis, advice and valuation in relation to their relocation and redevelopment of proposed stadium at Fossetts Farm. Barnet FC - The valuation of stadium on a sale and leaseback basis for bank lending purposes. Yeovil Town - Valuation on a sale and leaseback basis for restructuring purposes. Peterborough FC - Independent Expert, set rental under lease. Scarborough - Arbitrator appointed to settle freehold value of closed stadium. Portsmouth FC - Assisting Administrators with the sale of the ground and associated assets. Darlington FC - Advice to the freeholder on the investment as let to the Club and development opportunities. They're so confidential and discreet they blab all their website the valuations they've undertaken on grounds for clubs in trouble, and why they have undertaken such valuations. And did we know this? "Portsmouth FC: Assisting Administrators with the sale of the ground and associated assets.

I've no doubt there are some Premier League clubs who want to go in the opposite direction and scrap the sort of collective bargain agreement the PL has and strike their own TV deals. Now, let's think who they might be...

Is it just me, or does that pic of the "History is so close..." poster look a bit dodge? It looks as though the blond guy has been bent over the cannon and is being presented with the old bo'sun's whistle.

Interesting to see P****y didn't pick up a single booking against Millwall. Contrast that to the five they collected Saturday and you might deduce they played with an inordinate commitment in the derby. They got their priorities completely wrong. They were so desperate to get something from Saturday they shot their load, leaving little left for a game against relegation rivals that was eminently winnable. But they are so short-sighted they'll be happy and take pleasure from that. No wonder they're in a mess, their whole ethos for the last 40 years has been based on bitterness and rivalry with us. Had they been capable of putting that to one side to concentrate on their own thing and look at a bigger picture, they would probably be better off. All the time we were above them in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s we knew we were there, but never allowed them to divert our focus from what we wanted to do. The bitterness and jealousy which provided their driving force has also been the root cause of their downfall. They've been so bound up with us, they've forgotten there is a world outside. Even up to last Saturday. It won't bother them that they will go down with ignominy. They'll be happy to brag that no matter what happened, they didn't lose to us during the season. Pathetic.
