Yep, pretty much this. Until a sugar daddy rolls up we're going to have to continue along the 'cut your cloth accordingly' route. It ain't rocket science, it's just what most clubs have to do. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

You're right, they don't, but we are not a top club. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Indeed I am - circa 6000 posts over 10 years is hardly fanatical by the standards of some others who post here.

With a post count of 205, you are absolutely wasted on this board mate. Couldn't agree more with you in everything that you have said - great post.

Did you really say that...? 'She isn't interested in developing the club'. Where exactly were we when the Liebherrs bought the club..? Even after the sad passing of Markus, under Katharinas stewardship we have still progressed and developed. 3 top ten finishes in the last 3 seasons, when did that last happen? Not developing..... nah. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

I love this place - it's full of 'facts and stats'. The sell on clause started at 10% was inflated to 20%, and now stands at 25%. Any advance on 25?

We differ in the fact that I want him to stay, but that is one excellent post. It's refreshing to see somebody willing to look at the bigger picture as opposed to the default "He's crap, get rid". Top post, this place badley needs some balanced opinion to outweigh the constant trolling. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

It 'aint how you start.....

Yeah, excellent - great stuff. Amazed me 'n Duck are not 'down and at it' with you young footballing guru's, I can see we'er gonna have to do a lot of brushing up to stay with you.

I think the point being here Minsk - is that the clubs that want VVD will all be in and around the same bracket in terms of what they are able to pay. Chelsea, City, Liverpool and the like - they are all big clubs. I don't give two hoots who he goes to, doesn't bother me one iota once he leaves us. Yes there maybe a small bidding war, but I really cant see the range being that great that it would be out of one of the big clubs means, so he will have choice. At the end of the day it's highly unlikely that he has any affiliation with any of these clubs anyway, and will just chase the money just like everybody else - but it's no good saying 'Don't sell him to Liverpool, because if that's where he wants to go that's what will be engineered'. I really do not see one of the world best players being sold to a club that he does't want to play for - just can't see it.
-
Indeed it does, but as has been proved many times before, policing any player contact once they have made it clear that they would prefer to leave is very difficult in the extreme. Personally I thought the club did this very well with Morgan, so perhaps we can do the same again if VVD decides he wants to move on. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

I knew somebody would come up with the "Wigan" analygy, but let's not bother with the totally unrealistic. I'm not bothered who he goes and plays for, but in the company of elite clubs that will court him, ultimately he will decide. Do you really think that a club will get to sell one of the best players in world football to a club that they don't want to play for? Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

What needs explaining, the simple fact of the matter is the player basically hold all the cards. He will go and play for whoever he wants to. When you have this level of club vying for your services he can simply pick and choose and tell his agent to do the deal. Other clubs will obviously try to sway him one way or the other, but ultimately he will decide. Vvd will play for whoever VVD wants to play for. Simple. Sent from my HTC One M8s using Tapatalk

If you really think that Kat is driven by "pure greed", you are a bigger **** than I first thought, and a loathsome individual. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Maybe not, but whatever it is, it's way more than our wage structure stretches to. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Exactly, I'm surprised that anybody sees it any other way. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

An actor who never took himself too seriously, which is probably why he was so successful, but for all his ST and Bond roles, I was a dead sucker for The Wild Geese. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

We are not in that league, perhaps when we get there, our players will show the same sort of loyalty, but I fear that is a long time off and won't be in my lifetime. At present our players will go to any of the top clubs that want them. I don't like it, but that is the way it is. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Mellow, it's a message board. Nobody is demanding anything. If you're going to post in an ITK fashion, with no detail whatsoever, people are going to ask you to put meat on the bones - is a natural response. Now, would you like a hand with your toys. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

I think you will find that the player will go where the player wants to go. Players employ agents for vast sums of money to get them the move that they want. If VVD wants to go to Liverpool, he probably will. We could hold him to contact, but that rarely works out very well if the player wants out, so is not really a desirable strategy - it sucks but that's the way it is. Our only card is the length of contract, but that is simply a price bargaining tool. Think he could do a lot better than Liverpool, and whilst you're sick of them, Celtic fans are probably sick of us, but it's just the way the games hierarchy works. Pointless post, name them. What ramifications will there be, really, probably none. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Nothing but a mere formality, a given, a no brainer. I pointed out on another post that we rarely get to finals (once every fifteen years if we are very lucky, and that's being generous). So for something that's allegedly so easy to achieve, we appear to fail pretty spectacularly every year. When you consider that winning a cup is probably our only real opportunity for honours (we ain't winning the league) it's pretty amazing that people are willing to write it off as pure luck. Jesus, not here, not now whelk - this board could go into meltdown.

Thanks mate, nearly forgot that. Excellent.
