This Season - Carbon Copy of Wotte's Relegation of Den Bosch

Sod Wotte. I just can't see us scoring 7 !! 7 goals until the end of the season maybe... -
This Season - Carbon Copy of Prem Relegation

CB... I'm not saying that other clubs relegated have been run brilliantly - TBF I only care about Saints. You are right - chopping and changing players/coaches/directors/tea ladies has never worked for teams in the long run. Such a shame that we continue to be run by a CEO who must know more about Employment Law than he knows about football. -
Yes, but you can count the quantity of QUALITY loanees on one hand under Lowe. Most of the good ones ironically came in under Wilde and Crouch.
-
I think though Frank that in THEORY and on paper Lowe's ideas are workable. In practice, its never going to work and here's why. If you utilise a 'conveyor belt' approach - you first of all have to INVEST in your academy (which you can only do if you have the money). You only have the money if: a) you are in the Prem; b) you have a Chairman putting the money in (hahahaha!) Anything below that means you are chasing your tail because when you sell one half-decent player, there aren't any left on the conveyor belt good enough to move up. Lowe's idea could only come to fruition WITH PREM MONEY. He is, and always has been a one-trick pony with the financial backing of being in the top league. Why? Because in the CCC crowds are dwindling because the football on offer from our team is DIRE. The CORE requirement of a football club is to be successful on the playing and the business side. LOWE HAS PRODUCED NO EVIDENCE OF BEING SUCCESSFUL AT EITHER. Business in his last stretch? Hmmm let's see - relegation which cost us millions in lost revenue, a war chest which didnt exist (what a surprise).

How strange. Rupert overiding his 'head coach' on the assessment of footballers - especially when his coach has actually played the game professionally?

Hypo...on the midfielders.. Gasmi Smith Thomson Gillett Surman Schneiderlin Boyle Wotton Holmes Gobern Pulis That's 11 - like I said, quantity over quality. -

I would have thought with your intuition of what the Joker is up to in Gotham you would have worked that out !! Sadly I think that we have little chance of staying up - Wotte has been crying out for a loanee to freshen things up, but as Rupey and Mikey won't play ball, I reckon that would have been the last throw of the dice. Add that to my list of Rupey's mistakes..he can't help himself. If I ever see Askham in the street I'd trip him over. B@stard and worse than Lowe and Wilde put together. -
Well, if our wonderful CEO and Chairman were to forego their salaries until the end of the season, perhaps we could afford it....and gain survival. But that ain't going to happen.

I've said it before this season. This year is a carbon copy of when we were relegated from the Prem. 1. Poor appointment of 'coach'; 2. Changing coach too late when damage is done; 3. Squad high on quantity, not quality; 4. Appointing a coach too late - who can do something but not with one hand behind his back. 'Rupert Lowe's definitive guide to fookin over a Football Club' Endorsed by Guy Askham, Mike Richards, Old Man Withers from the Amusement Park, Our Man on the Terraces Mike Wilde and David Windsor-Clive.

The Observer's first paragraph....
Channon's Sideburns replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Frank you are spot on with that. I felt that once we moved to SMS we ended up signing more of the 'mercenaries' than we did before....Kevin Phillips anyone...? Still hate that b@stard for what he said after he left - if he didn't want to come here he had that choice - take a leaf out of Super Kelv's book, and switch off the phone. I'm glad his wife put it about. Typical small man syndrome. -
Were Still In The Same Position Jan Left Us In

Stats are quoted only by clubs when they are favourable... You won't be seeing any stats on the OS anytime soon. -
Lowe's catalogue of errors this season will relegate us. Will be nice for him in his later years to sit by the fire with his slippers on, down in history as the man who orchestrated the two most devastating relegations in the history of SFC.
-
Chances of survival? Less than 20%. How anyone can actually think we are now, after the whole season of stop-start performances, going to string a set of wins together are, at best becoming deluded. Lowe and Wilde have foooked us over big time this season..and to think that some were slagging Crouch off.....how wrong you were. History books will show that Lowe led us to the two most costly relegations in the history of Southampton Football Club. Askham...Richards, Windsor-Clive, Withers - is your boy still 'the man'?? Would come to you lot for professional advice....nah.

Yes...but didn't we lose Stoneham because Rupert got too greedy and wanted Retail on the site?? -
What was it Tarby used to say on Winner Takes All??? 'Difference of Opinion'... Moran HAD the talent comparable to Owen. He was ruined by his back injury, that was why he 'bummed' around in the lower leagues. Owen still has the talent, he is just another example of the 'modern footballer' - knowing he gets paid shedloads each week for little effort, and doesn't apply himself fully.. Moran was a fantastic finisher...and had more to his game than Owen. And I never said it was anything about being a brickhouse - just that he was a 'sturdy' player who didn't fall over as soon as someone tapped him...(but again, that's modern football for you). It narks me when the pundits go on about how great Owen is - put him alongside Torres, Drogba or McGoldrick and he looks distinctly average.
-
Wes, I'd only want him on there so he could be publicly torn to shreds by Bannatyne and Theo... Imagine... 'SO you're telling me that you intend to gain promotion from the Championship using kids from your Youth Team and a coach from the lower Dutch Leagues? You're business plan is full of holes and for that reason, I'M OUT' The look on his face would be priceless...
-
I'd like to see Rupert on Dragons Den to be honest... How entertaining would that be.
-
In my eyes Steve Moran p1sses all over Owen - seriously...if you put them in the same game 'in their prime'. Owen had one good World Cup and has not done much since...overrated. Gets England caps on history a la John Barnes when players like Crouchie get overlooked. Steve Moran (back injury aside) had the talent to be sooooo good. TBF I think that there weren't many that could knock Moran over.
-
Agree wholeheartedly Um...and for that reason I have purchased two tickets for EuroMillions tonight... £27M Jackpot - get behind the CS Takeover guys - we're going old school....I might even get the Albion Band back for half-time. ...and Jack Fleet.

Who would fair better in CCC, us or skates?
Channon's Sideburns replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Sorry Nick, I don't think I could cope with them coming down and whipping us...which even with the loss of those players you mention...they would do at the moment. I can't see our squad being the same next season - we're probably going to lose half the first team anyway...to be replaced with what??? Final Straws and all that...christ it doesn't bear thinking about... On the same subject though, we should take a leaf out of Bournemouth's book regarding how to get yourself out of this situation - shame is, by the time we wake up it will probably be too late. -
Let's put it this way - I didn't realise it was him at first...scouse accent..??? Rupey would never allow that in the Boardroom...! What surprised me is that he didn't finish off with 'COYR'.... If you're reading this though Mike, I feel sorry for you I really do...Best intentions the first time and all that. Second time round........it was doomed to fail from the very beginning.
