  1. Shame to see Jander go off injured - did not look happy.
  2. There's a touch of calm class about him.... Bollocks that should be us one up.
  3. The idea of being in the Championship to rebuild is a foolish notion. You are still way better off, being utterly pissed on in the Prem, than you are languishing in the Championship from a business sense. I like the championship as it goes, but I also don't want to be here for more than a season.
  4. That's a great summary and all, but then I have to ask, why isn't it working? Are our players that shite? You're right about Downs being in the right positions(ish) but he's so far fallen over twice from 2 yards out and been completely inept against Hull. I actually want to like him, lovely finish in preseason, but he's been infuriatingly shit since. And my thoughts on Archer are well documented here. AA cannot lead a line. Stewart ? (He'd be my gamble)...Scienza the next gamble even though it's not really where he plays. Basically I'm asking you to give me some hope to hang on to 😂
  5. I despise Stephens as a player - he represents all that is wrong with the club for me - but he's actually the best in the backline this season. THB would be out on his arse first then stick your finger in the air and choose which 'wing' back (that's a laugh) goes next.
  6. Just about keep but fuck me its dire.
  7. What about the guy at Charlton.......
  8. He's got a goal or assist every other game the last two seasons from AM/LM. It's not his job to score hat fulls and yet he does and assists as well. I agree with the rest but like I said the problem doesn't appear to be him, it's the fucking set up, whatever that is. Certainly agree with the striker part too. Which is why I don't understand why we don't start with the biggest and stronger of the 4 we have. He's still meh but in this set up I think he'd be less meh than the other 3 shitters
  9. I am not sure I agree here, he's been quality in this league for a few years and whilst the Prem might be a stretch I was expecting more from him by now.
  10. Azaz is actually the barometer for as to why this is mostly Still's fault, he's gone from being a top class talent in the league to anonymous and shit.
  11. He's fucking toss, always has been but I keep getting told he was great for Boro for 5 mins
  12. Genuinely wank, still getting it out wide, still crossing it to no one who will ever win a header. Still's master plan.
  13. Binned off by Brentford within 5 mins of the new manager getting there.... I'm not sure what we were expecting.
  14. His fault that he didn't request an upgrade. We all know he's shit BUT he's the least at fault of the 3 for that goal. The fact we can't score either is going to be the issue now. Still a real average manager as expected
  15. Gagpuss BillboGaggins etc
  16. I am ok with this if our No9 has some positional sense and strength to shrug off defenders - not sure who that is from our crop. Probably AA but he can't lead the line for shit so.... That said I think the injury update from Will today might actually help us. Jander in the middle and Stewart up front if Archer is struggling are the two changes I might have made regardless of fitness.
  17. I have rewritten this response twice now, which I think highlights part of the issue for me. Either a) we are trying to play quicker on the transition through quick passing and hitting on the break, in which case why did we put so much emphasis on wingers in the summer. This strategy would assume that we see Archer as our no 9 (which is questionable IMO because he's not really very good) but we aren't really seeing this yet come to fruition. or b) we are looking to utilise width and putting balls into the box but that would counteract using Archer as our no 9 because he's neither good in the air, or certainly on Sunday's showing, particularly good against strong CBs (basically all CBs). So why are we starting every game with him up front and not Stewart (Downs is the answer to no questions it seems)? Basically, to answer the OP - I am not really sure - presumably we are hoping to spread them out amongst the squad and decent players we did buy to offset the shite we have up front.
  18. We actually won 3 of our first 5 and had scored 10 league goals. We've won 1 against a terd Wrexham side. We were, however, fucking shit in the next 4 in which we lost all 4 scoring just twice. Like Martin then, he's using a lot of goodwill up, and that's a lot to do with his stupid 352 bollocks. Still time, but he HAS to turn it around now. No more excuses.
  19. This echoes it for me but I will give it a 6 because I think the cleanse job that happened cannot have been easy and yet we got rid of a lot of shit which is brilliant and upgraded in some areas - but not as many as I'd like (GK, CF). I also think deep lying CMs shouldn't be an issue if Downes can pull his head of out his arse - he started like this last time around and was then brilliant so fingers crossed there. IF it all clicks and the 2 CMs can become generals we should have enough to challenge for auto's but its not a given without a recognised quality striker. Hoping LND finds his old Championship form one more time and for a longer stint or that Archer steps up is quite the ask.
  20. 1 year left on his contract.
  21. Last time I say this I promise but I think if you do this you start Stewart with Archer/AA instead and bring Downs on.
  22. Even SSN knows Pompey aren't a real club.
  23. Scrap that Tim Sherwood is in now #freeAustin!
  24. I think we are missing the bigger picture here and that is why the fuck is Charlie Austin on SSN about deadline day. Its a horrible listen.
  25. Let's say you are right and I am barking at the moon, because I barely remember my own name at the moment. HOWEVER, regardless it allowed us to keep pace long enough for Leeds's and Leicester's form to drop off a cliff.
