Playing so well, but have to make it count while we're on top. That game of ice hockey seems to have worked wonders
-
The criticism of Long in here is unjustified. He's had very few opportunities or starts, and always made a positive impact. He's been a victim of an over inflated transfer fee. Big, big chance for him today
-
Exactly, their only real weakness is pace. We're back at full strength defensively; frustrate them for long enough and we might just nick this
-
Good call from Roko. Strong line up, I like it a lot. COYR!
-
Yes, can't see either catching us now. Got a good feeling about today.
-
I'll worry about us getting a positive result before thinking about what others are doing. The only way we will finish in a good position is by winning our own games.
-
Just got a feeling this will be 0-0, which will be a decent result.
-
Since they won their first title, they've never really pushed on, especially in Europe. Pellegrini will surely be gone soon.
-
A hindrance? Ridiculous attitude, the Europa League is still a decent competition. What are people expecting. We're not a Champions League club yet. I guess a few will moan about the fixture pile up next season. Personally, I can't wait to see who we draw in the group stages
-
Yes there's no way they deserve a top 4 spot, think it will be Arsenal and Liverpool. Van Gaal getting away without too much criticism because of his reputation. Don't they have Spurs and Liverpool in their next two games?
-
I think the pressure has got to us in recent weeks. Maybe we can regain some form as no one expects us to be in the mix for a top 4 spot. I think we need to ignore the sides around us and worry about our own team. Yes, Spurs, Liverpool and co. have picked up, but they won't all win every week. We do really need a point against Chelsea though. It's not over yet, still some twists to come
-
It's not doom and gloom to suggest he's leaving. It's just the reality of it, that's football. And it will continue to happen. As fans, we just have to deal with it and accept it. The club survived an exodus last summer, and I'd like to think Les Reed and co. have planned well once again for this summer.
-
Even if it's true, he will be gone. As much as we might want to convince ourselves, he won't be here next season. He deserves a big move anyway
-
There's very little chance of us finshing lower than 7th. Who knows? Maybe we will perform better now the pressures off
-
True, we can't rely on the others slipping up. We had our opportunity in the last 5/6 games to be sat comfortably in third. A massive opportunity blown. At the end of the season we will look back at the Swansea result as a turning point
-
You'd expect one to slip up, think Utd. will drop points tonight. I've noticed they are playing Spurs next, I know we have Chelsea but a positive result would (somehow) put us right back in the mix.

Saints 1 Palace 0 - Post Match Nerve Reconstruction

Hardly, poor effort which Speroni should have saved. He gave the ball away three times after that, Bolasie should have punished the error. Anyways, great persistence from Mane for the goal, as soon as he released the ball he just kept on running into the box and got his rewards. It's not ideal we face Chelsea next, but there's no reason we can't nick a draw. -

Wins a win, keeps us on course for Europa League, which must be the aim now. Hopefully we will get back on track. I'd certainly start Long against Chelsea, he looked lively, and Pelle won't get a look in against Terry and Cahill. Oh, and JWP was awful when he came on, the whole great player, dead ball specialist thing is a myth. -
So to clarify, what needs to happen for us to qualify when we finish 7th? Is it an FA cup final between any of Arsenal/Liverpool/utd?
-
Maaaaaaaaaaaannnnneeeeeeeeeeeee! Get in! No surprise JWP missed the initial shot. Great persistence by Mane
-
Another poor result. Not impressed by Djuricic at all, RoKo obviously rates him.
-
Whilst it is unlikely, Swansea or Stoke catching us, is more likely than us catching Liverpool or Arsenal. Swansea and Stoke are both good sides at the same sort of level as us, but after our start it would be massively disappointing to drop below any of them
-
We're playing catch up now, think top 6 is gone. I'd be keeping an eye on Swansea and Stoke, as our season is starting to fall apart.
-
We don't have to sign dutch players just because of RoKo. Realistically, Schneiderlin and Clyne are off, maybe J Rod. Difficult to say who else. But there should be funds available, and I hope the club are planning on spending them in a similar way. Personally, I would try and get Benteke, he's gone right off the boil and had injury problems, but is a class act. I think he's a realistic option.

I'm calm, but just gutted at what's happened over the last few games. We were in a great position, we'd taken 7 points from the Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea games. People were starting to believe. I wasn't expecting us to win every game after, but we should have taken at least another 4 points from the last 5. We really should be sitting in third now, as stupid as it sounds, but it clearly wasn't to be. Next season I'd rather we go on a decent run in the Europa League and finish 12th, than play weakened teams in cups, get knocked out, and come up short in the league once again after a promising start. We're not ready for european football, but who cares? I don't want to look back and remember those great years where we constantly finished best of the rest, yet achieved nothing in cups. Let's go on a run in the Europa, at least we'd have something to remember.
