  1. I will spend the summer locking myself into sports bags.
  2. Pompey have had about 3 years to 'get round the table with HMRC'. Paying tax is not an option. It's all a bit late in the day isn't it? Pompey are screwing everyone, most of all their own fans. Despite this they keep defending the club. Is this a weird case of Stockholm syndrome or something?
  3. I don't post much on SWF but I've been lurking on/reading this thread from the outset. I've got to say that post is up there with the best. I laughed so much I got tummy cramps and very nearly shat myself. Well played Sir!
  4. A suggestion for centre back: Kyle McFadzean of Crawley town. Being looked at by Bolton as a replacement for Gary Cahill if he goes elsewhere. Middlesbrough have looked at him I the past too. Good player.
  5. ... and if Palarse can sign Coldplay's dull vocalist Im sure Daltry can provide a bit of experience in the middle of the park.
  6. If The Who got on board would it then be the magic bus?
  7. Ali Dia, just for the giggles
  8. Good signing. Now watch him trip over on a small piece of carelessly discarded emmental and break his ankle...
  9. Leandre Griffet's goal vs West Ham (I think)
  10. I don't remember any massive fanfares when Dean Richards signed for us (from Wolves was it?). He was brilliant for Saints but for some reason he seems to get overlooked. Maybe he was overshadowed by Svensson who turned up shortly afterwards. Maybe people don't like the fact that he left for the Spuds. He certainly rose above my expectations. R.I.P Dean
  11. Crawley Town away would be interesting. The Man City of the Championship vs the Man City of League 2.
  12. I remember Saints coming back from 2 - 0 down to beat Swindon 4 - 2 in the F.A. Cup. Somewhere around 89/90. Great atmosphere that night.
  13. I think you will find that although John the Baptist and the virgin Mary are not up to standard as substitute sons of God; they would be far more comfortable in the role in the championship/premier league. They both have talent but maybe lack the muscle needed for the rough 'n tumble of league one deity relations.
  14. I'm going to the Crawley vs Derby game tonight so it'll be interesting to see how he fairs against championship opposition. Matt has been knocking them in for fun this season but Crawley is not a one man team. Given the investment put into the whole team, it's not surprising that he's scored a lot of goals. He's got a lot of good quality ( for the blue square) around him to help.
  15. Cillit Bang.
  16. Saints 6 - Man U 3 Haven't see that anywhere yet.
  17. It's likely that it would cost the government more to cancel the production of the 2 Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers than to actually complete them. The financial penalties for breaking the contracts makes cancelling them almost impossible now. Its Probably why there are rumours that the second carrier may be sold to India, at a loss, to recoup some of the costs.
  18. If it's on, and there is no reason why not, they show loads of football including some pretty obscure games, then it will most likely be on the "Ring" channel, which shows football constantly. If you're in a hotel then ask in reception, they'll be able to help.
  19. I bet he would have been good at goal celebrations. Knocks Crouchie's "Robot" into touch
  20. Hello, a grubby lurker here. It was time to get serious about this 20 years ago. My missus works for a company that builds power station boilers, preparing bids for future projects. According to her we're way past the line where we can maintain our power generation capabilities in the short to medium term. Insanely high energy prices and power shortages are looking pretty much inevitable in the coming decades. Oh and yes the French are gonna be feeling very smug. sorry.
  21. As a (very) long time lurker on SWF and it's predesesors I just want to place my grubby electronic paw print on this thread. What ever the outcome of this soap opera, this thread has been fantastic entertainment, so thankyou to all posters from where ever you are (even Skatesmouth). Funny. Serious. Interesting. Informative. Did I mention funny? and even a bit sad at times ( I do genuinely feel for all the decent Pompey supporters, I remember how I felt last summer, it wasn't nice) Anyway. Thanks for the entertainment. Carry on.
  22. I don't see a sarcastic smily thing so, er, thanks.
  23. As I mentioned on the HCDAJFU thread, Crawley is my second team and I've watched them play a few times this season. Charlie is easily Crawley's best player, he's quick, agile and scores goals. He's one of those players that gets you out of your seat with excitment when he gets the ball and starts running down the wing. Whether he can step up a couple of leagues remains to be seen, but if Saints don't buy him someone from L1 at least is going to pick him up. I'll be sad to see him leave Crawley (they need the cash) becuase he's pretty much worth the cost of a (Crawley) match ticket on his own. A few clubs are after him with Swindon especialy keen.
  24. In reference to the Charlie Ademeno post earlier. It says in the local Crawley news that he's being watched by Saints, Millwall and the Gills. I've watched him3 times this season and he's Crawleys best player . He's a nippy right winger/striker with a bit of skill about him. He's 21, a decent bloke by all accounts and has scored 6 goals in the last 3 games. Thinking about it, he's scored in all 3 games I watched this season. Apparently Crawley have a confirmed bid in on him and also verbal interest from another club. Crawley need money so I expect him to go somewhere in the Transfer window. A shame for Crawley but that's life in football I guess. Would he be good for Saints? Hard to tell when his current opposition is Grays, Eastbourne etc.
  25. That Swindon game was excellent, I think I remember Matty's goal from a free kick, looked glorious from behind the Milton goal. It was a great atmosphere that night. The 4 - 3 Ipswitch game was pretty great as well. Happy days indeed.
