  1. Why are people going on as though Still obviously already has some misplaced loyalty to Armstrong? Where’s that perception come from, have I missed something?
  2. To cross-post what I said on the general transfer thread: He's not going to sign the contract so literally the only option the club has now is to get much as we can for him this summer, before his value drops off a cliff next year. It's the same situation as it was with Livramento, Ings, JWP. His agent will be telling interested clubs that that's the situation, and encouraging them to bid, knowing that it will mean the agent gets his payday as we'll have to accept something. Everton have started the bidding at £27m, now it's just a question of how far we can push them up, or whether that acts as a trigger for any other interested parties to put in a better bid. He's basically gone at this point. Fortunately, Moyes has done us a massive favour by coming out in the press yesterday and saying how badly they need to get players in and how desperate they are for a winger having been turned down by their top targets, so we should be able to squeeze another £7-10m out of them as a distress purchase now he's shown their hand. Still think someone like Spurs/ Villa/ Fulham might enter the fray though, so we get a nice little bidding war. I think he'll go for a package worth £40m all-in, but couldn't give a fuck who it's to, to be honest. He's not the finished article, I honestly think it would be better for his development if he played a season in the Championship, but he doesn't want to and with the money he can make from a move, who can blame him. So it's so long, thanks for the money and he'd better hope it works out better for him than the six weeks he lasted at Chelsea.
  3. Yeah, plays on the other side but Robinson has consistently looked one of our best players whenever I've seen him in pre-season. Definitely looks like the next cab off the rank, and us being in the Championship could end up being perfect timing for him to get proper first team game time, and also potentially to boss it and make a name for himself if he's as good as he looks like he might be. I look forward to us selling him to Burnley in January.
  4. Their wide options are Dwight McNeill and Illiman Ndiaye, either side of Beto or Youssef Chermiti. He'd improve them instantly, that's why they want to buy him.
  5. Exactly. He's not going to sign the contract so literally the only option the club has now is to get much as we can for him this summer, before his value drops off a cliff next year. 6. We’ll just sell to whoever pays the most mate. Same as we always have.
  7. Same. I find the nature of the modern game makes it much easier as it means I have absolutely no emotional attachment left to any of them. KWP was the last one I cared about, and he gave us as much as anyone could reasonably expect. Now, when you can only expect to get one season out of a good player before they inevitably leave, who cares, really? They’re all mercenaries so let’s just get as much money as we can, get some more in and see what happens.
  8. In the same way no PL teams were interested in Ramsdale? 🤔
  9. I don't think he's either. Wiki says he's a right winger who can also play as a 'forward'. 55 apps and 7 goals for Alavés. 26 years old. Turned pro at 24. Something something Jamie Vardy
  10. Sounds like Still is working them hard in pre-season with a lot of fitness work. Which has to be a good thing.
  11. FT. 1-1 on the night, Rangers go through 3-1 on aggregate. Seriously rode their luck as they got carved open multiple times in both legs, but Pana missed a hatful of chances, Butland made some massive saves and Rangers were absolutely clinical when they got sight of goal. They gave up 36 shots on goal across both games though and will rarely get away with only conceding 1 over 180 minutes if they defend like that. Gassama scored off the bench in both games and looks like an excellent signing at £2.2m.
  12. Yeah he's getting rinsed playing on the left. Ooooh should have been 2-2. Should have equalised. Edit: And Rangers score. 1-1 🤣
  13. Pana get the ball in the net... VAR check for offside... Goal given. 1-0 Pana. 2-1 Rangers on aggregate. Ex-Saint Djuricic the goalscorer
  14. Rangers living very dangerously in the second leg in Greece. Backs to the wall stuff and now been caught in possession twice in their own box only for the striker to miss a sitter. Scottish commentators tearing their hair out over the risks they are taking. But still 2-0 up on aggregate.
  15. Lots of ifs and buts, but... Bednarek has already left. THB will leave because he doesn't want to play in the Champ. ABK and Taylor will leave (hopefully, if we can find buyers) because we don't want them anymore and will tell them they need to find new clubs. Stephens, Quarshie, Edwards will stay, with Sanda coming up through the ranks. So that's three senior CBs and a prospect. So IF * this was to happen then adding this fella would give us four senior CBs and a prospect which for a season of 46 league matches plus cup games is probably about right, especially if we want to have the option of playing three CBs. Agree it would be weird to sign anyone else in this position until THB, ABK and Taylor are definitely gone though, unless they're very well-advanced in the background and we just don't know it yet. And a move like this would probably mean Wood is on his way out too because if he stays then that would be five seniors and a prospect which I agree is probably too much. (* Because it's just a rumour, I know that MLG)
  16. If we start the season with Baz and Macca on the wings then I think it's fair to say our transfer policy needs work Although playing a goalkeeper on each flank would probably still be more effective than when we had BBD and Armstrong on the wings and no-one in the middle in that U-shape vs. Forest at home last season
  17. What that says to me is that we must spend whatever it takes to get Redmond back #WelcomeHomeNathan
  18. Fair play, that's a flipping good showing - congrats!
  19. He would do just fine.
  20. Long-term 2030 vision is for Stephens to step up as manager with Macca as his goalkeeping coach. Great lads to have to have around the dressing room and they really love the club. Supported by Smallbone as head of physical conditioning, and Stewart as physio.
  21. Yep, that was Dalek. Stated season after season that Saints long-term vision was to be a yo-yo club and that a 17th place finish in the PL was our ultimate ambition. Got roundly slated for it, but now we hear from those purporting to be ITK that that’s exactly how the club sees itself and that our strategy as soon as we got promoted was to get relegated again so we could have another year in the Championship with all our brilliant Prem quality players and then ‘come back stronger’. So it seems he was right all along! Who knew. #JusticeForDalek
  22. Wasn’t there a fairly convincing case put forward that Alpine was one of Glasgow’s many alter-egos?
  23. Anyone mentioned a seaside B&B yet? Man alive. It’s July.
  24. Russ should get Lucy to help sweet talk the player into agreeing to the loan. Purely so the headline can be 'PINDER HELPS MARTIN GET WOOD'.
