No offence mate but being a professional goalkeeper, spending every day of your working life doing nothing but goalkeeping and getting paid tens of thousands of pounds a week to do it isn't quite the same as being a punter taking a spell in nets in the Lymington and District Sunday league. The ball being hit reasonably hard, taking a bounce and moving around slightly shouldn't be some wildly unexpected scenario for a professional (international) goalkeeper.

Great comeback and spirit shown yesterday. Always felt we were still in it, even at two down, but it needed something special from Rothwell to light the touchpaper. As soon as that absolute twatter hit the top corner the momentum shifted. But what a game. However, the prospect of playing away at Anfield without Downes, even if it's against their slightly less than first XI, is... unnerving. Really hope it's not so bad and he's back for that one.

When you hear ‘Will Inspector Sands report to the Operations Room’ (or wherever) over the tannoy*, it’s the common code for a fire having been reported in that location. The follow-up announcement ‘Inspector Sands has left the building’ means the alert is over. So while I don’t want to alarm you, it probably means the stadium’s on fire. https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/inspector-sands-and-why-the-london-underground-keeps-asking-for-him-50951/ (*It’s actually public address system Lynn… Tannoy is a brand name)

I think I’ve spotted the slight issue with this plan

Rotherham won't know what's hit them

Off you go then, let’s hear your original composition in E minor

When Edozie and Sulemana are fit again too that’s a ridiculous set of options at this level

Fuck knows what Mara is

Holgate and Mara having a thrilling personal duel to see who can look the least like a professional footballer

Absolutely all over the place, all over the pitch, from the keeper to the centre forward. Going out with a whimper at this rate.

The keeper left that. That’s insanely poor.

Is Hoedt normally their captain? Can't think of any player less well-suited.

Have you tried here? Might be worth a go https://gprivate.com/6946c

Not sure tbh… I just remember playing against him when he played for BRSA in the Tyro league and being in awe of how good he was when we were 13!

I'll see your Christer Warren and raise you: https://www.bdfutbol.com/en/j/j99378.html

It was. He managed to make both a catastrophic error and an incredible wonder-save at the same time. Let a simple shot squirm away from him, then somehow dived backwards and clawed it away at a very difficult angle just as it was about to cross the line.

No, nothing new (just for the record)… just an allusion to the (alleged) past!

We've got form for ex-players getting in trouble for smuggling beak: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/colombia-midfielder-viafara-gets-11-years-on-us-drug-charge-colombia-texas-mexico-southampton-acting-b1825851.html Anyone seen Claus recently? (allegedly)

What’s really unfortunate is that his middle name is ‘Rammitup’ Poor lad

Bunch of whinging tarts on here. 71% possession to their 29% 10 shots to their 3 1 on target to their 0 8 corners to their 0 …away to a perfectly respectable mid-table side. Reading the comments on here you’d think we were getting murdered.

I got Kick Off for my Amiga 500 that year and used the kit and player names editor to create my all-conquering Saints team, which I named as that exact team. Chris Nicholl's 4-2-4 balls out insanity. It didn't always work by any means, but when it did - like smashing that Liverpool side with Grobbelaar, Hansen, Barnes, Beardsley and Rush in it, who had done the double a few years earlier - it was incredible. It was an amazing time to be a 14-year old Saints fan.

My first ever Saints game was when we beat QPR 5-1 at The Dell on the opening day of the 1986-87 season. Colin Clarke scored a hat-trick on his debut for us and instantly became my hero. Nick Holmes and Danny Wallace also got one each. They had a young David Seaman in goal. So in honour of that, we're going to win 5-1.

What exactly did he do that was taken as disrespectful to the other manager?
