We have been down the route of just making lots of speculative signings before, it didn't work. It's not about numbers, it's about quality. I would rather they took their time and identified the right players rather than just signed up 7 or 8 without having a proper look at them and hoped some of them came off.

It's a reasonable concern to be fair, just look at Liverpool and Man U, very wealthy owners but still in horrible amounts of debt.

Who was sitting next to Pardew at Farnborough game?

If I knew the lyrics to another Craig David song I would quote them now just to keep you wondering. To be honest I think I lost it at knobcheese. -
He's a tough old bastard though, bless him. How many times has he fought off cancer now? 4? 5? Pretty inspirational to those trying to fight it.

Sign some players, any players! Is Paul Telfer available! PAAAAANIC!

re re wind, and the crowd say Bo, Seleeeeecta. -
..and there is your problem Tac-tics. Pardew has never said that he's relying solely on the Bosman market, just that he's starting there. Just relax and it will all come together.

I'm keeping quiet with the Skates I work with, until things start to really come together here.

It seems to be the new fashion - freebees
Barry the Badger replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
If Pardew had come out and said that we were only looking at free transfers I think more people on here would be up in arms. The fact is he has just said that it's where he's starting, which is fine, no problem in looking for a cheap option as long as it's not your only plan. -
I'm still not convinced that many people outside of Southampton really 'got' how good MLT was. Sure he won goal of the season a few times but I'm not sure that his worth to a team was fully appreciated.

It's a total myth that the leagues get gradually more 'physical' and less about 'real football' the further you go down. I wouldn't say the Championship is any more physical than the prem, just the football isn't quite so good.

Maybe, but would you want to be the man to take that risk? If they try it and only sell 10000 rather than the 15000 you're talking about, they're screwed.

I've got mental health problems and I still think Lowe is a ****

Fry - Takeover is almost complete. Funds being transferred.

So Pinnacle think they would still have the fans support

give me an f! Give me an i! Give me a c! Give me a k! Give me an l! Give me an e! -
It's just a rumour which has spread but I don't think theres any actual evidence for it.
-
This is gonna sound stupid.... but every time we play a team including Robby Savage I think HCDAJFU.
-
I think you're reading too much into it, Fry had a duty to reopen negotiations once the exclusivity ended, doesn't mean he knew Pinnacle were going to fail. It would have been foolish not to do so even if he thought Pinnacle were nailed on certainties.

Football League: "There were no other issues"
Barry the Badger replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Maybe you're right, but personally I cannot get the image out of my head of Mawhinney grinning away with a look of pride as he announced to SSN that the FL were right all along and we would get the -10. Is it too much to ask for the FL figurehead to not actually look happy about applying a 'sporting sanction' to a club? I know it was just one interview, but since then I have struggled to view the FL as anything other than a bunch of suits congratulating eachother and taking pleasure in our demise with a 'that'll show them' attitude. -
Football League: "There were no other issues"
Barry the Badger replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I think we were doomed the minute we started trying to get out of the ten points with all the 'parent company' nonsense. I do wonder how much that must have p*ssed off the football league, and worry that now they are going to make an example of us, just like they did with Luton. -
On what basis do you say that, are you itk or just making it up?
