Or, Portsmouth is declared an official "s**t hole" by the government and they take measures to set it adrift and push it over towards France.

Three weeks ago I thought we might be gearing up for a season in the Blue Square, or worse. If the worst that happens is the players have to train on their own for a few days I will be bloody delighted.
-
I know we all want it to happen NOW but the buyer is spending multiple millions, of course they are going to want the terms to be acceptable. Look at the F1 negotiations. 3 days ago the press were reporting it as though it was the end of the sport, but that was really just both sides taking extreme stances for negotiating purposes and today they announce a compromise.

Whilst I too kind of wish they would just accept the -10 points, I can't help but feel we have all lost the stomach for a fight.

It's already been discussed and not having memberships is a sensible decision.

I thought Nick came across much better than on his SSN phone interview.

A question about our -10 points appeal...
Barry the Badger replied to Marsdinho's topic in The Saints
This is a good point. We were clearly not at an advantage due to overspending last season, but the playoff season we probably were and next season we will potentially be. Not having to make mortgage payments anymore will be a massive advantage in both L1 and the Championship. -
For a team who are comfortably in mid-table with no chance of promotion or relegation, it's not. The whole thing is badly thought through. They just added the carry over thing to deal with teams who were already relegated and didn't bother to make it cover anybody else.

I agree with what you say about us probably deserving the ten points, but the fact is that the league did not have a rule about parent companies going into admin. If you did something that was perhaps morally wrong but you knew was not actually illegal and the police then nicked you and said they were going to retrospectively make up a law to cover what you had done, and put you away, would you feel a bit hard done by?
-
No they don't. Not quite. The rules state that the points deduction will ALWAYS be applied in the current season UNLESS the club finishes in the bottom three anyway, in which case they are carried over. Even if Stockport had have been 20 points clear of the drop zone with a game to go it still would have applied last season.

Nothing new. It's all gone quiet since then really.

Can I just say.... AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Thats better.
-
The football league are a bunch of ****s. Not sure that really classes as 'news' though.
-
I don't understand why this is only coming up now though...
-
Surely the FL would have been sounded out about this before today?
-
Absolutely, yesterday was pretty exciting but we do need to take a reality check here. Most clubs in L1 would love to have Dowie IMO. He does have a mixed record but has been quite unlucky to be sacked at a few clubs where I thought he was doing ok.
-
But what were you actually getting for your membership?
-
It would definitely be important for the fans not to turn on him if we have a few bad results.... Although I still can't see whole thing this being true, as exciting as it would be.
-
To be fair, he never says he's speaking for all Saints fans. He doesn't come across very well though and I've got no idea what point he's trying to make half the time.
-
Was the first one they read (my actual name is James), said that Keegan is a legend and would bring optimism back to St Marys but just said at the end I'll not get carried away until we know for definite.
-
They read out my email on SSN, I should not be as excited by that as I am. :-)

Cup Semi Final v Watford

And it doesn't actually link to anywhere

Can't the mods just delete this thread and we will all pretend we never read it?
