Meanwhile in the real world.... if clubs are only prepared to sell (the players we want) for silly money, on account of our comparative wealth, it is advisable to hang on and see if their prices drop as time ticks on towards the deadline. To just panic and meet ridiculous valuations would be terrible business practice. But again, we are just speculating and really have no idea why the players we want are not available to us at present.

Here is a list off the top of my head of multiple F1 world champions in the modern (subjective phrase I know) era. Tell me how many of them were nice guys when it came to the racing. None of them is the answer. Occasionally an apparently nice guy slips through and wins one eg Jenson, Damon... But the guys who win over and over are all self centred, egotistical, and completely single minded. Fernando Alonso Michael Schumacher Alain Prost Nelson Piquet Ayrton Senna Mika Hakkinen

I don't think it's anything to do with being passionate or how much you spend on going to races. I love this sport, but I really don't see the problem. I don't think we will ever agree on this though. I can honestly say that if next season Red Bull signed up somebody to be a clear number 2 driver to Vettel, and and the very first race they asked him to move over for Vettel, I would not have a problem with it. It's their team and it's up to them.

So what you are saying are that team orders are ok in theory, but only in certain situations. So where exactly do you draw the line?
-
I really couldn't disagree more. I really don't see why a team shouldn't be able to use their two cars however they see fit to secure the best result for their team. Obviously in this instance it is against the rules, but the no team orders rule is stupid. A question for you, if in the last race of the season Hamilton is running 1st, with Jenson Button running 2nd. Hamilton is out of the championship, but Jenson will win it ONLY if he wins the race. What would you say if Hamilton let Button through? Would that be unnaceptable?

Very easy to say when it's not your money. We may be well off for this league but that doesn't mean we should just throw money around left, right and centre. Aside from the fact that you have no idea what the figures involved are, I think the fact that you are suggesting we pay an extra £100'000 to get a player a few weeks earlier is complete lunacy.

I dislike Ferrari and the way they try to bully their way through, but this is a lot of fuss over nothing really. It's a stupid rule.

Sorry legod, completely disagree. Where does pardew state we are haggling over a couple of hundred thousand. Read what has been written. He has identified good players but thinks there is a chance of even better ones, so is being patient. If that is the case, I think it's the right way to go.

You must be joking.
-
Will not be looking for anyone else at right back I think it means.
-
Or we would get Peter Crouch, everybody would moan that he was a cheap option going to be ****, and then he was bloody amazing!
-
Ah, but is that the standard picture of me, or the version with the stick on freckles for completion of a summer replica?

I guess that Centre Mid must be a very difficult position to fill. We need to find somebody with real quality for this division but can't even guarentee them they will be first choice as Hammond is the captain and Scneiderlin is the nuts. "Excuse me Nicky Bailey, I know you're too good for this league but would you mind awfully signing for us and then not being first choice?"
-
Do you keep them next to your trainspotters log book and stamp collections? ;-)
-
It's not ridiculous though is it? If, when we were in administration, somebody had've told you that by July 2010 we would have spent millions more than anybody else in the division, narrowly missed out on the play offs from a -10 start, won a trophy at Wembley, signed a whole new team containing many of the divisions best players, and were favorites to win promotion, but that you would STILL be moaning... you would have said that was ridiculous. You just can't stop yourself and I don't think it will ever change no matter how succesful we become.

...and if he said "we are going to reach the final of the Champions league in the next 4 years", people like you would be on here crying because he only said make the final.
-
I don't really think he means he doesn't know what to do with them, more just that we haven't seen that finished side yet, it's been a lot of chopping and changing as they make sure everybody gets a run out. But against Sutton we will see his first choice side.

Saying Andy Murray hasn't won anything is just plain wrong. He hasn't won any Grand Slams is what you mean. That's like saying Chelsea haven't won anything, because they haven't won the Champions league.
-
You are mental btw ;-)
-
But I.... I..... I don't.....understand..... How have we been able to make a signing whilst Cortese is away from St. Mary's? It simply doesn't make any sense.
-
I really don't think Hammonds place is under any threat. He will be the captain.
-
I'm sure they checked it out for safety before they let the players do it.

Best guess, Puncheon.
