  1. My brother and sister were born at Rookwood. I was supposed to have been but came too quickly (for the first and last time in my life ) and so was born in a house on Eastleigh High Street, about 200 yards from where the Swan Centre is now. As with Eric above, I too did my time at Quilley Borstal and also come over for a visit at least once a year. I agree with him that even though it is a bit of a dump there are certainly many worse places around. Indeed, IMO, Eastleigh is certainly better than many areas of Southampton; and if you look at the total area of Eastleigh Borough against the city of Southampton I would say it is a much better place to live.
  2. Plus Seaborn is not available for the next 2 games and Perry probably wouldn't manage 3 of them in a week.
  3. Antonio on for James? We now need Papa or Connolly on for Holmes.
  4. I'm pretty sure his name is spelt 'KAKA' (and some on here might even complain if we signed HIM!) As for Mifsud: if there are any legs in this rumour at all (which is very doubtful given the initial source) then I would be happy for us to have a punt on him on a 6 month deal. We do need another fwd. (I prefer for it to be Jackson, Barnard or possibly even Kaka though).
  5. Now you mention it, I think you're right. Oh well, it was a good theory whilst it lasted.
  6. I had exactly the same thought, and was amazed that so little about this has been put on this thread. I found it extremely ironic that immediately following the horrific incident that Poopey were the team mentioned on Sky News as wanting their players returned (if their safety couldn't be guaranteed).
  7. According to this (I realise it is only the NoTW) Gaydamak Snr's friends have lent the club (or rather, the holding company - whoever owns that ) £45m. Let's say £17m of this is used to pay back the loan from another friend of his (Chainrai) that would leave exactly £28m left. Which, amazingly, is the exact amount due to be paid to Gaydamak Jnr at the end of the month. Funny old game, innit!
  8. A very cold reception from the fans is expected! However, myself and Mrs Minsk found it funny.
  9. Papa by a continental mile (I'm sure that's much bigger than a country mile) especially after tonight!!!!!!
  10. When is the replay? Are we through to the next round? Surely you can't get through to the next round of a cup competition without winning?
  11. I need to pay for Saints Player again. That was the most painful penalty shootout ever, F5ing on here to read the updates. Thanks and well done to all those keeping us ex-pats informed. And an even bigger well done to Papa (or was it HArding?) for getting the equaliser, to Bart for ALL those saves and to those the guys who kept their cool and scored their pens. And a chin up to the 2 who missed, we're still through!!!!!!! God, it feels great being a Saints fan again! I haven't felt this good about them for a VERY long time!!!!!!
  12. Did we win? When is the 2nd leg??
  13. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And breath!!!
  14. My first match this season and my (5 y.o) daughter's first match ever. First half was poor, but think this was mainly down to Tranmere showing why they had gone 5 matches unbeaten prior to this. That said, I wasn't worried about Tranmere scoring at all. There as no real attacking threat from them. Then again, there was no attacking threat from us either! 2nd half seemed a totally different game. Once the first goal went in (and a great strike is was from Harding) Tranmere had to open a bit more and we started passing through them. After that Rickie showed what we have been missing since MLT in how to take penalties and free-kicks. Two cracking strikes! My thoughts of some players: Bart - Seemed composed without really being troubled. Some of his kicking was way off. Harding - What a great LB! How did we manage to sign him on a free? James - I thought he had a good game. Watched him closely in the 2nd half and was quite impressed given the criticism of him I have read on here. Morgan - Apart from a few very good long range passes I thought he was poor. Antonio - As soon as he got beat for pace about 5 mins into the game (which I am sure shocked him somewhat) he didn't seem to have a clue what to do. Was quite dissapointed with him. Connolly - It seemed to me that he thinks 10 times quicker than anyone else on the pitch. A quality player. Rickie - A fantastic striker of the ball and a good battler. All in all, came away very happy about the (2nd half) performance and it enhanced my belief in us being able to clinch a play-off spot.
  15. I'd go with: Bart James Trottman Thomas Mills Waigo Hammond Wotton Mellis Lallana Lambert Subs: Forecast, Perry, Harding, Schneiderlin, Antonio, Connolly, Patterson
  16. Great to be out of the bottom 4. Would be 9th if not for the -10. Only 6 teams with a better GD. Really looking forward to the Tranmere match!!!!!!!!
  17. Great idea! And, another thought, maybe an A team Vs B team picture? (Especially seeing as some of my 1st choices ended up in the B team.)

  19. I could think of many personal requests for myself, my dad, etc, but here is one general thought....... How about he does an all time Saints 11 (as voted for on TSW) which is auctioned on here? What do you think, Tim/MODS? P.S. I, for one, really appreciate all that you have been doing for Ron. I doff my hat to you, sir!
  20. That's exactly what I would go with for tonight as well.
  21. Many weeks ago I predicted that we will climb out of the relegation zone (for the final time this season) after winning our home match against Tranmere (as it will be the first game I will be at this season). I will be very happy to be wrong and for us to acheive that feat this evening though!
  22. Two spot on posts if ever I saw them!! I'm with you all the way on this one Tim!
  23. Make that 3 of us!
  24. Damn that Rickie Lambert! I had us down for a 2-1 win in the prediction league!! Well done to the players, PArds and especially all those who travelled up to give their support! Special mentions must go to: Lallana - another brace under his belt. This boy has seriously come good! Kelvin - for keeping us in it with 2 super saves at 2-1. Get well soon Kelv! Trotters - for a very timely booking! Pards - great subs to close out the game. Bart - for keeping a clean sheet. May it be the first of many!! Wotton - for putting some steel into midfield and protecting the defence. We always seem to play better defensively with him the team! Don't you all agree?
