  1. And a second for Connolly..... ANd a very load cheer here in snowy Minsk....... And an even loader one when Antonio buried the third!!!!!!! Who will be top scorer between Lambert and Connolly? It's going to be an interesting, and fun, season!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Markus and Nicola!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Yessss!!! Get in there David Connneeelllllyyyyyy!!!!!!
  3. I didn't know you were American!! Without wanting to put the mockers on it: It sounds as if Lloyd James is having a good game. The other twp [players I have heard mentioned the most are Lambert and Connolly. Ooooohhh, and Rickie hits the post. I have a feeling this will go to a replay, unless RL and DC start getting decent service to them and bang a few in.
  4. On paper, quite probably. But they are having a pretty rough season so far. And with a full SMS behind Saints, who knows? Oh, and Manure should have murdered us in '76.
  5. I think they should reinstate this rule.
  6. What he said. The JPT is a very good chance of getting to Wembley, which could be of great benefit to get the players used to the pitch before the play-off final. As for the FA Cup, I certainly don't want to see go out in the first round! let's get as far as we can in it. Whilst I sincerely doubt we would win it, I know for sure that not many Saints supporters thought we would do so in November 1975. Also, I would like to see how this Saints team would cope against some of the CCC teams, or even a prem outfit like Hull or West Ham at SMS.

    Dodd to return

Beattie was nothing to do with it, Sturrock said so himself. He didn't deny Dodd's involvement though. As a few others have said, so long as Jason is nowhere near the first team he could maybe do something for Saints.

    Skacel Signs

Nice story. I also agree that Harding is a better choice at LB, gut that wasn't the position Rudi was signed to play in. If he had been there wouldn't have been all the hype, which we created - not Rudi, and he wouldn't get nearly as much of a slagging by ignorant fans. FWIW, I think he would be excellent for us in this team and the 4-5-1 formation. IMO he would be starting ahead of Lallana in the attacking wide left berth. He is left footed, can go past a player, has a very good cross and a good shot on him. I think many people forget that in our play-off year, when he was primarily played in his proper LM position, Rudi had the most assists for us. Good luck him.
  9. To all those saying Drew wouldn't get into our team atm: Why is he now at a prem club whilst Schneiderlin is still with us? How many goals and assists did Drew get last year (not to mention other years with us) and how many has Scheiderlin managed in all his time here? It's totally irrelevant anyway as he won't be coming back for at least a few years, but I think some people are just anti ex-Saints players or simply have no clue about football(ers).
  10. There is no chance of Drew coming back here anytime soon. He was a regular in the Wolves 1st team squad until he picked up the injury he just coming back from. However, I would love to have him back in the role Scheiderlin now plays. I think he would suit it perfectly, and he (Drew) can at least score goals and set them up.

    Ladybirds

    I was +13 then.

    Ladybirds

I experienced the same thing in the Crimea last year. They were all over the beach and even going into the (Azov) sea you had to wade through thousands of dead ladybirds. Two weeks later there was a swarm of locusts. I much preferred the ladybirds to those big buggers!
  13. That is a shame. My daughter (5 yo) hasn't seen Saints yet but her first experience of a football match was when England U19 played here early last year. Crowd of around 5 000, 4 of us cheering on England. She and I spent the entire 2nd half holding one end each of an England flag and cheering (despite the fact England were playing Belarus U19 and she is half Belarussian). At the end of the match the entire team came over to clap us and one player (Kerry Chandler of Sunderland if I remember correctly) even gave her his shirt. On subject, good to hear the lads got a decent result and happy to hear Oscar played well.
  14. What would you like to drink? OR Who is the tasty looking blonde who regularly sits in the director's box and can I have her phone number? OR Would you like for me to arrange a beautiful Russian chick to make you as happy as you have made me?
  15. I don't remember Keegan playing in the '76 Cup Final. I guess it would cost quite a lot to bring in the current European player of the year, but even if he was at Spuds I doubt they would come 2nd in the league. And 'Arry has spent vastly more (comparatively) in his time as a manager than Lawrie ever did. if you can't see that then I don't know why I am even bothering responding to you. Oh, and I'm pretty sure Keegan was only at Saints for 2 of the very many years Lawrie put out fantastic teams (and, if I remember correctly, keegan had left before we gained our 2nd place finish in the top flight. I am certain had he remained at The Dell we would have won that title easily.)
  16. Get in there!!!!!! As called by me on the previous page. (smug looking smiley thingy)
  17. I hate Solent! I just started swearing thinking it was 2-2, not realising they had switched to another match. I'm glad that's what it was though. Connolley to come and score our 3rd?
  18. Except Lawrie did it with a lot less money, which must obviously make him the far better manager. As someone else said above, there are many other managers who people say were 'great' but all they did was buy their titles - just like 'Arry did with the cup. Also, there is the little matter of coming 2nd in the top flight. When did 'Arry do that?
  19. The HAM(mond) and the LAMB(bert) have us 2 in front so far! COYS!!
  20. Good post!
  21. TBF, if Robbie, or you, or I, were to do as much trolling as that other certain poster does we would probably have been banned by now - I am sure trolling is against the forum rules. Also, if someone was previously banned I thought there was a rule about them signing up again under a new name? We all know that other users previous personas, and even he himself has now stopped denying (some of) them. However, he does (occasionally) have some decent points to make and he does liven things up when everything is quiet. So I am not necessarily saying he should not be allowed to post on here, but his trolling should be curtailed a bit better (for the greater sanity of everyone else).
  22. Lawrie gave me my best years of being a Saints fan, for all the reasons Daren mentioned above and more. One of THE best? Debatable (as suggested). if judged solely on silverware then no. If judged on getting a small team punching way above their weight, then certainly. It didn't go unnoticed (to me) that the Troll who started the other thread put Redknapp at the top of his list of better managers (obviously to try and bait some people) but I refuse to repond to his trolling. However, I will say on this thread that Lawrie and Harry have achieved the same: both relegated Saints, after half a season in charge; Lawrie promoted Saints to the top flight, Harry promoted some other south coast team; both won the FA Cup - Lawrie with a 2nd Div team, Harry with a top flight team who payed ridiculous wages which almost crippled the club. So, on that, LAwrie is obviously the better manager. Then there is the fact that Lawrie got Saints to finish 2nd in the top flight, something Harry has never achieved at any club. Should Harry do such a thing with Spuds the press would be proclaiming him one of the best ever, only he still would not have done all that Lawrie did. So yes, IMO, Lawrie was one of the best - and I will always be thankful for the memories I still hold so dear from when HE was at the helm of our great club.
  23. I am hoping the LAMBert gets the goals at the oldHAM, maybe with AdHAM Lallana slicing them up. Of course it would also be great for TROTTERS to net against his OLDham club!
  24. I think that is a bit too much info Sue. Is Steve happy with you going public on this? Oh, and congrats to all the winners.
  25. Beat them both AND whoever we get in the game in between. FYI, after we have beaten Charlton we will have a one legged semi (hopefully at home again) then a two leg Southern region final, and then our day at Wembley probably against dirty Leeds.
