ahh right okay, i'm glad you cleared it up. Because on this thread here, which was ironically almost exactly a year ago you seemed to think work would already have started by now. We could expect to see it "soon". I take it a year isn't "soon" even though you go onto state work might have started in 2013, you know, this year. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?37346-St-Mary-s-What-we-might-expect-to-see-happen-(and-possibly-announced-soon) You obviously didn't take into account that it would take 2 years to do investigations and surveys about traffic. It seems to suggest in this statement "So given the planning application length and the length of construction we might see work over 2013 and 2014 perhaps?" that planning persmission should already be in, if not work just about to start or be already in progress. it must be down to the investigations, not down to the chairman wanting to see what attendance we get to ascertain if expansion is nessasary.
-
So are you suggesting Cortese wanted to wait and see what our attendances would be like for a couple of seasons in the premier league before deciding if expansion was nessasary?
-
i have, post 38. They are a smaller club currently playing in a stadium 2/3s the size of SMS and are expanding it gradually, when complete it will still be smaller than SMS. I'm really not sure what point you are trying to make.
-
Swansea are a smaller club than us currently filling a stadium that is 2/3s the size of ours and expanding it by 11000 in stages whereby it will still be smaller than ours. What point are you trying to make?
-
You are wrong, you said they'd have a bigger stadium than SMS when expansion is completed. They wont, it will still be smaller. They have a much smaller stadium than us at the moment and are doing it in stages. 2,000 seats in the summer up to 22,500, then another 5,000 up to 27,500, then another 4,000 if required. A sensible tiered approach to assess the requirements to expand. They will still have a smaller stadium than us when if and when the complete expansion is completed. Far more sensible than you're quoting of what crowds other clubs get as reason as to why we should expand isn't.
-
So you admit you're wrong then good stuff. we have a bigger stadium now and we will have a bigger stadium when their expansion is complete. What's your point?
-
Here is it from Wales on Line. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-unveil-plans-expand-2606314 The plans for the extra 2,000 seats are phase one of the total 11,000 increase. Capacity still smaller than SMS, you need to research things better Matthew, it's too easy!!
-
Adkins is fully in control of transfers and has a say in all of them The rumours that Adkins and Cortese dont have a good relationship are utter bullsh*t made up by trolls. He will not be sacked.
-
Why? The capacity of the Liberty Stadium wont be higher if i read the BBC article http://www.stadiumguide.com/libertystadium/ 20,520 (or 20,532 depending on which site you read) + 11,000 is 31,520 (or 31,532). SMS wil still be bigger.
-
BUt he's said many times we are going to be pushing for Europe in 3 years time, you even quoted this as evidence of his ambiton in the summer. why wait?
-
Dear oh dear Matthew. The Liberty stadium capacity is 20,532, add 11,000 seats that equals 31,532. SMS has a capacity of 32,689. We will still have a bigger stadium.
-
Lee is going to be a real star and a massive player for us this season. I've just got a feeling as he looked good against Derby last season.
-
Good for Swansea. That'll make their stadium still smaller than SMS.

Nigel Adkins is the new Alex Ferguson and the next great English manager.

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?

We've got one, Rodriguez. Lambert is still an quality player for us and doesn't need replacing. -
There is nothing like the constant use of the facepalm icon to emphasise a superiority complex.

The funniest south park ever. -
I agree with you. Yoshida is our best centre half, but that isn't saying much. I think he's decent but the other 2 would struggle to get into any other premier league side bar Reading. Jos can be decent for long periods of the game but you always feel you are never far away from a mistake or a lapse in concentration. He's a good guy and done a job for us is no where near a premier league centre half. As well as the mistakes you've highlighted i believe Jos was at fault for Newcastles second goal up there. Watch his reaction to the long ball, he was marking Cisse, he drops off him, presumably to make a challenge for the long ball, ends up not doing this and leaving Shaw to challenge for the long ball in the centre back position. He should either win that header and clean the long ball out or stay tight to Cisse, he ended up being caught in no mans land, not challenging or effectively marking anyone, it was a great strike but if Jos is tighter to CIsse then he doesn't have a clear shot at goal, but no way should a decent centre half be covering for a full back challening for a long ball that should be meat and drink to him.

How so? Post 105 on this thread i say we can finish top 10 with 4 quality signings, then i say it again in the one you quote 12 days later. Please explain how this is backtracking. -
Ryan Smith was world class. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4279680.Smith_s__world_class__abilities_could_save_the_Saints/
