Why are you getting stroppy? Nick G said that managers need to be at the right club, I posed the question that now, given the players Cortese wants to bring in, are we still the right club for him, or do we need and benefit from a higher profile manager. Just because you cant comprehend the point its no need to hijack the thread, other people have managed to understand it without sulking.
-
Why does it annoy you? It's true, you say so yourself. I know a lot of people look at everything in a cute, naive way but that doesn't mean that is how it is. In the real world it's very, very difficult for an upcoming manager to prove themselves.
-
I'm not talking about Gross specifically, really don't think he is a possibility. More high profile managers generally. Di Matteo, for example, was a top player and has a champions league win under his belt as a manager. One of the main reasons given for Michu join Swansea was playing for Laudrup. Some players would play for a manager like that rather than having to google Nigel Adkins.
-
Is that why his first big signing was Rickie Lambert and we ended up with Neil Trottman in our back 4?
-
I think you may be struggling. I'm not talking about why Adkins will be sacked. I'm posing the question, given the sort of played Cortese wants at this club, are we still the right club for him and would the club be easier to sell to players if we had s higher profile manager.

I can confirm the twitter link is Pap and I can confirm I am on twitter. Currently being irritated by the helmets posting 'I hope we hurry up and sign Astori' 50 times a day each. -
For this reason I hope it happens. I would love to see this.

Okay let's throw this into the mix. You rightly say managers need the right club. Few would argue that in 2011 we were the right club for Adkins and he was the right man for us. A big club, underperforming with a good squad and needed a manager to guide them to promotion which Adkins did not once but twice. However, are we NOW the right club for him? Cortese claims to want European football, is off all over the world trying to sign top young talent and spending tens of millions in the transfer market, outbidding clubs like Liverpool and Napoli. Not many people outside of hants and S****horpe would know anything about Nigel Adkins, so when Cortese is talking to the likes of Astori and Coutiho and he asks them 'wanna come to Southampton and play for Nigel Adkins?' or 'wanna come to Southampton and play for champions league winner Roberto Di Matteo (for example)?' which one will be the bigger draw?

Good to see that yet another none positive article is immediately dismissed as bullsh*t and lies in a terrible paper that only prints made up stories. The same paper who by coincidence only a week ago prodcued this article which people we're cracking one put over. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2060821/After-Walcott-Bale-Oxlade-Chamberlain-Southampton-aiming-create-new-golden-generation-England.html And this article only 3 days ago which had a similar effect. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2258132/Southampton-set-sign-12m-Liverpool-target-Davide-Astori-Italy.html Are we too assume that these stories were also made up, lies and crap journalism? Or might there be some truth in all of them? Whch one is it Saintsweb?

That is the thing that gets me. If you dare to question an infraction you usually get ignored or if you're lucky a sneering response. I got told by JustMike to grow up, after i dared to question an infraction he gave me for joking saying to Milton Roader "no one gives a f*ck what you think you skate c*nt" it was clearly a joke and plenty of others have called him it. Chalet also gave me one for an insulting comment, yet when i asked him if he'd infracted himself for an insulting comment he made to me on the same thread it was ignored. -

have people been reporting posts again? -
The good news for Villa and Paul Lambert is Big Ron was on Five today and has given him his backing and said Villa shouldn't sack him and he'll turn it round. That shot in the arm for them can only spell trouble for us on saturday.
-
You can guarentee that if we dont sign a winger/left back/goal keeper it'll be blamed on us messing around for too long with the Astori negotiations.
-
He was alright for us!

If we can stay up this season, which with this current squad is 50/50 then next season I really beleive we can push on to be a midtable side next season. We'll need a couple of quality signings in the window and then 2 or 3 more in the summer. You can see how players like Clyne, Schniderlin, Cork and Lallana have stepped up and are improving since the season started. Shaw has been better than I'd hoped, Yoshida is improving every week and Rodriguez is starting to show why he was described as a future England player. Add to this the fact tht Ramirez is clearly class we have a core of young players here who will be so much better for having a season in top flight under their belts. We need more from Mayuka and a reliable goalkeeper but if we can Add 4-5 quality players over the next two windows which will also give us a bit more depth to the squad and we can really push on next season. There isn't anything to fear from anyone from about 8th down. we aren't a midtable side at the moment, but we aren't a million miles away.

Sounds more like one for the future than one for now. 20 years old, only 30 appearances to his name and been at Bologna for a year and only played 13 times.

The committee is actually a very good idea. It means more than the manager has the input and everyone is agreed on the targets. It eliminates managers just signing their favourites (Ben Haim anyone?) where it falls down is if the manager is overruled when he definitely does or doesn't want a player. End of the day he is the one that has to work with them day in day out and stands or falls by their performances. Not that I'm for one minute suggesting that is the case at Saints.
-
He's already said he wants to join Fiorentina, so there is no truth in this one I'm afraid.
-
Just give him a cortisone injection and get him out there Like they used to in the good old days FFS. That's the trouble with footballers these days 'oh my knee hurt' pooftas the lot of 'em.

I started doing strong lifts programme after Christmas. A weights programme where you do 5 sets of 5 reps of compound exercises, 3 from 5 exercises 3 times a week. So you do...... Mon Squat 5x5 Bench press 5 x 5 Bent over row Wed Squat Military press Deadlift Then back to the first routine on Fridays. It's a 12 week programme and you start off with no weight at all on the barbell, then add 2.5kg everytime you go on every excercise. You sqaut every time You train and mix the others up. It's a beginners programme really but I've not done weights properly for about 3-4 years so needed to ease myself back into it. It's meant to be good for burning fat as well.
