It could be. The plot thickens.......
-
To be fair £6m is only 1 1/2 Rory Delaps.
-
It'll totally discredit the whole thing if none or even only a few of the top clubs are involved. What's the point of having and "elite" player programmable of none of the top clubs buy into it? Nome of the top clubs willrolls old what players to pick and none of them will lose cat a status for not doing so. For the simple reason it'll total embarrassment for the FA if none of the top clubs are involved in it. There will be a loop hole Somewhere for them
-
Don't believe any of it until Alan Nixon tweets it.
-
Never going to happen.
-
Yes they are, they have to pick youth products or lose cat 1 status. Do you think this is going to happen to Man U, City or Chelsea, who by your own admission practically wrote the whole EPP thing anyway.
-
What happens when a club is dictated to about who they can pick?
-
That doesn't answer what will happen after these audits and the clubs are dictated to about who they can and can't pick.
-
in your opinion you don't see the the number rising hugely. However, just like when deciding which club is biggest, do you have all the important information that tells you that it can't. Or is it the case that is is entirely possible the number might rise back up quickly as with the introduce of FPP and EPPP clubs invest in youth?
-
They might be now, but will they be when they start being dictated to about who they can pick and who they can't?
-
You didn't need to read an EPPP document to know that the FA are spineless and wont pull it from the top clubs.
-
I tell you know, the FA will not pull cat 1 status from any of the top clubs if they aren't playing youth players.
-
You've said you don't see this number rising. It is entirely possible it might be and we could easily be back up to 40 in a relatively short space of time, could we not?
-
I'd love to see them telling Alex Ferguson he Isnt picking enough youth players in his team. What's to stop clubs just turning round and saying they're aren't ready yet or good enough?
-
That's not what his missus says.
-
What sort of standard is that conference? L2 at best I'd imagine. Hardly an endorsement for his first team credentials when he was here.
-
This is possible. We won't be signing 2 first team goalkeepers though that's for sure, unless Davis is on his way.
-
Blayney wasn't considered good enough by Wigley who got Keller in in loan. He only made a handful of appearances, why do people think we are going to sign two more first team goalkeepers?
-
Why? I really don't understand why people think we need or will be buying two keepers. We only had two credible keepers when Bart was here why do we suddenly need an extra one? Last time we were in the premier league we had two decent keepers in Jones and Niemi, don't forget we had to loan Kasey Keller because they were both injured. It's very rare for both keepers to be injured or suspended at the same time and goalkeepers generally get injured, suspended or need a rest less than outfield players anyway. Are we really going to sign a keeper who won't even make the bench most of the time and what sort of keeper do you think we'll get who will settle for that?
-
So is it a closed shop then? Once 20 are selected they and only they can get cat 1 status everyone else might as well give up.
-
And how do you propose this will be inforced? The FA won't be able to dictate who a manager picks for their first team. Can you imagine the FA threaten Alex Ferguson and Man United with removing their cat A status if he refuses to pick certain youth players for the first team?

joe Lewis, 2008 the best young keeper in England and a shoe in for England in a couple of years. 2012, dropped by Peterborough and released in a free. On separate note though its fantastic to see us linked with and bidding for players like this, the best young ones in the country, regardless of what we think of the fee. The days of Kamil Kosowski and Ryan Smith seem a long time ago!!

Lose the persecution complex sunshine. I distinctly remember you banging on about what a great future we had as we've done this that and the other and investing in our academy to make us the best out there and how this meant your ambitions of a champions league side made up of academy graduates wasn't just a pipe dream. Now it seems we are just one of a number of clubs with good academies.
-
I don't disagree with that Jamie. Far more players get ruined by big moves early in their career than go on and flourish. Especially goalkeepers. The last 10 years in littered with promising young keepers who got big moves and it ruined them.

No one is being negative, it's simply that it's not as unique as people were thinking. A year ago we were told we were one of only 3 clubs in line to get it, now it seems there are a lot more.
