I went to see Leeds v Coventry the season when Leeds were at their height in the late 90s. He was brilliant, best player on the pitch by a mile. Sad that a player that go gets effetively a career ending injury as such a young age. Im sure our very own David hirst was rated as highly as Alan Shearer then they were both young. However for him a couple of bad injuries and liking a beer too much, hence the nickname thirsty hirsty, meant the only way was down for him.

Yeah the dad was a proper bellend. I noticed he said his son being a top player “it’s my dream”. there is another good one on channel 4 at the moment with Crystal Palace’s academy, last week was 3 12 years old who have been best mates all their lives, really good and again shows how brutal it can be

Cheltenhams academy featured on a documentry I watched recently. They had a trial match against a load of kids from south london without clubs who play in the cages in the area and are spotted by a local scout to play in these sort of matches. The were all 16 or 17, they ended up offering one of the kids on the opposition a contract. I assume this guy was part of that process. I wonder if he’ll look to scout that area, people are saying it’s a hotbed of young talent with 1/6 of all English players coming from that area at the moment It was a very good series and before anyone asks it wasn’t saints related but a good watch

I don’t care what Cardiff and Swansea do. I’d like saints to get relegated and win the championship though. Even when we were run away favourite for league one and had a 5 point advantage at the top of the championship we still managed to cock it up

Be a real shame, he's a good guy and still a good player but from his perspective probably a good move for him.

seems like Newcastle and possibly PSG are in for him as well, we rarely win the race when another decent premier league team want a player so dont get excited about this one. The days when we beat Liverpool to Vegard Forren seem a long time ago

I very much doubt that a footballers form dipped due to sanctioned issued againt his parents clubs owners, it's like the ranting that the glaziers are responsible for losing to a team that cost less than Fred! (yes i appreciate the Glaziers are awful owners and should be kicked out of the game but that isn't the reason they lost on saturday) It'll be a combination of the crap team performances, defenders getting wise to him, giving him more attention and the dips in form all young players go through.

Went to Puglia 3 years ago, absolutely agree and the best thing was we didn’t see or hear another English person the whole time we were there. Some of the restaurants were quite rude initially assuming we’d want pizza and beer but once we ordered off the proper menu they were really good. I’m not surprised they were like that to be honest, I hate English tourists as well. Whinging, moaning and embarrassing demanding chips beer and pizza love FFS

That makes sense then as he signed a 2 year scholarship last July they've got him down as joining 1/7/21 ended 30/6/23 so cant have updated the dates with his pro deal

According to transfer market Ballard has a contract that expires next year, need to get that extended quickly.
