Well when players can’t travel to view our first class training ground, along with the restricted travel meaning a smaller pool of players leading to prices going up there is no value in the summer window so makes no sense to sign players. Of course that won’t stop us selling a few players but we have sustainable model to maintain And these are only players we wanted shot of anyway clogging up the wage bill. In any case we have a number of good young players suddenly now ready step up so we are well covered everywhere. It makes sense to save our cash for a bigger war chest in January.

I do see the value along brings to the team, his energy and running creates space for other players and I like him. I do question the opposition managers though as having seen long for years why don’t they simply instruct the defenders not to track Longs runs as there is a high probability Long will either miss if through on goal or mis control or mis hit any attempted pass or cross.

I still find it incredible we went into the January transfer window saying it was important to strengthen the defence and came out of it with it weaker and people still defend it saying there was absolutely nothing wrong with our January business. The sort of people that if they caught their wives noshing off another bloke they’d pretend they didn’t see it.

As MLG told us last week Valery has been back 4 week now and played last week for the u23s. Walker Peters only missed one game with his injury before yesterday so I’m not really quite sure how either can not be fit, surely you only get match fit by playing matches?
