Decent finish, 4th in 7 caps for Italy. He is a good goalscorer.
-
Nice goal Pelle.
-
Holland looks woeful, no control in midfield nor threat going forward. What was the keeper doing for that goal? Feeble.

Do you have a Paul Telfer one?

Harding said on Solent the other day that he is best pals with Kelv so he may possibly want to play another year at a lower level. Although would be a shock after the PL lifestyle.

Think his contract is up at the end of this season. Would be suprised if they offered him another one, but then again they offered him a decent deal before at a suprising point after he has been dropped a few times, so not beyond the realms of possibility as a third keeper. Surely though, this season is the last of his playing days, but would be stupid not to try and retain him in some capacity, probably within the Academy at this stage to develop experience. Thoughts on what would be a good next step for the veteran stopperlad?

James Ward-Prowse for England? ...say that again ...

I think a lot depends on whether Walcott can sustain his form, Kane improve his league form and Sturridge stay fit. Obviously if Rooney has an upturn he will definitely stay in, but would definitely be interesting if these three put real pressure on Rooney. He keeps his place for Utd because they don't have many options.

Nothing from Fonte on Instagram since the game which is unusual for him...

Dutch FA Director has said today that Blind will remain regardless of what happens tonight so no issue. @Elko_B: The director of the Dutch FA has announced Danny Blind will remain Netherlands manager - even if the Dutch are eliminated tonight

Cedric more articulate in his second language than the likes of Targett and Jay Rod when they were featured. Seems like a good guy.

Fair point to raise though. Beyond a US documentary what has been visibly achieved on that side? When Krueger came in it was with a view to really driving that side of the club, but has it happened? Whilst good from a sporting view we are one of the only decent PL sides to have never had a pre season tour to an area of "growth potential" and our commercial income is poor in comparison to on field success despite this being specifically mentioned many times by Krueger, Rodgers etc as a specific focus area. Yoshida is probably one of our most marketable assets but aside from a Japanese Twitter feed we don't seem to have done a lot to make the most of one area we have an advantage over other PL sides. Having said that, it is quite common to see Maya shirts worn by Japanese people at SMS, but surely they can exploit it further. Likewise in Africa with a player like Mane.

Michael Owen: I am Southampton in racehorse owning terms
Saint Charlie replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
How so? He is specifically praising Saints for being able to compete without the top resources. Which is what we have done to an extent the last few years. -

He said Southampton as a compliment because we compete whereas WH, Palace etc havent yet. Pretty accurate summary from Owen. -
Looked innocuous to me, hopefully just a knock.

Krychowiak looks a class player. Was obviously going to be nigh on impossible to get him but can see why we tried. Made for the PL.

Surely also the decision is as much about not blocking the pathway of others as it is about Briggs himself.
-
Commercial income still poor given the worldwide stage of the PL.
-
Good to see Chung get some minutes.
-
Mane can play in more than one position of either a 1-4-2-3-1 or 1-4-3-3 so will be a valuable asset.
-
He will be north of £30m. Has made a big impact, is young, with high potential and the PL is just about to be flooded with even more cash.
-
Quite ridiculous that there is such a long break and then some matches are played that close to the weekend. If they do have a game Thursday then he will do well to make the squad, zero chance of starting XI.

Personally I think Koeman views Long as an almost last resort option. Certainly feel he is the one big money iffy signing from last summers recruitment. In hindsight I would have preferred Koeman to have been able to bring in someone he really wanted and trusted.
