Agree. Last year we were simply better than more than half of the league. The whole standard of the league, especially mid third is better and many teams have improved their first XI with genuine quality added. Any non top 6 regular who ends up in the top 10 will have had to play better than they would have last year IMO.

Considering our next 3 games are Utd, Swansea and Chelsea we need some points from them or will be firmly in the bottom third of the table. Given the dross we have played so far (Everton aside) its been a poor start when given a seemingly kind set of fixtures.

Bertrand not fit for this one but should be for Swansea. Clasie longer. Targett will need to be better against Martial, Mata or Depay than he has against the wide players so far. Not having a go, but they are a big step up from the players he has semi struggled with so far.

We wouldn't lose the good Academy players without the incentive of huge fees that are then reinvested to bring in quality players. Well run selling clubs would lose out and the big name or big wage spending clubs would be strengthened and be able to cherry pick.

It would be a big suprise IMO if he signed an extension. There isnt a huge amount for him to gain by staying longer term because we are unlikely to have a better season than his first in charge and he knows every summer you have to rebuild which must be extremely frustrating and eventually will see a decline, even if slight (probably even this year). If we get him to see out his 3 years then that is great for all parties IMO and we will have been mutually beneficial for each other.

Guly has absolutely wasted his career since about 2012 which is a shame, but I'm sure he isn't that bothered.

This will be a draw then so will need nothing less than a win vs Notts to have any chance. Weather probably going to be a factor in that game too. Shame to go down when the team that ends the season is competitive. Some poor form/signings for the early games has cost us.

Far too early to say that. He started the games they have won pretty much and I expect will be back in to face us. Quite sure he is delighted with how it is playing out for him.
