Indeed. Although come April the likes of Mane, Wanyama, Martina etc may become unsettled by where they will play next season. We definitely need to improve though now we will face some decent sides.

When you look at the dross we have played bar Everton, we are going to have to get some points versus United, Swansea and Chelsea to avoid being in the bottom 5 after 8 games. So definitely havent capitalised on playing 4 poor sides in the first 5 games. We have the players to do it though. Would go with Wanyama, Romeu and Davis with Mane and Tadic either side of Pelle and good attacking sub options.

He is a good person and was the perfect appointment from Cortese at the time when he was less well known. A big, bold and probably correct decision to replace him but thats no slight on Adkins who will always be a legendary Manager in the history of the Club. Would be great to have him involved in some capacity in the future.

Biggest difference IMO is: Depth in some positions ie. Spurs GK and full back backup is miles better than ours. A bit more class than us in the no 10 position with Eriksen. A striker with much better movement than Pelle. Those reasons are why they will finish above us.

Possible reasons: 1. Less player songs as fewer fans favourites in the squad versus the Adkins/Poch days. 2. Bit of a funny season in that we seem likely to be worse than last year but in no danger of relegation. Just a bit flat allround?

This is JWP's 4th season though and from open play he hasn't noticeably improved. That is the concern, he isnt really a kid anymore experience wise. A player like Jordan Henderson eventually improved a lot in a short space of time and turned promise into impact. That is what JWP, after over 75 games, needs to start doing.

If you keep losing your best players and have a low net spend it will eventually catch up with you but we should do fine this season once we settle down into some rythmn.

Never has there been a player who would benefit from a loan spell more than this lad. Obvious talent but hugely lacking in game experience in pro football.

Long was a poor signing in hindsight for that sort of money. I bet if they had their time again they wouldn't have signed him.

Great win. Also some talk of Hants signing Shane Watson perhaps for next season in some capacity. Hants Championship record with Fidel Edwards must be miles better than without. Thats the value of wicket taking bowlers.

Premier League striker Pelle starts for Italy whilst the striker lots of Saints fans would supposedly replace him with in an instant is playing in the Championship and behind Jamie Vardy in the Intl pecking order after no PL teams showed a serious interest in the summer, with doubts over his allround game and physical output. Funny old game. Pelle is a good player and will always get a decent amount of goals.

When you factor in the fact we paid off Osvaldo, have ploughed money into an an expensive training ground, have presumably a high ish wage bill and also poor commercial income relative to other PL clubs (have we improved since Ralph joined?) then its not as easy as just expecting what comes in to go out. That said it will be interesting to see what we would spend if we ever had a summer window where we didnt raise big money through sales. Club always says we don't financially need to sell but would we still buy?

Judge each source on its merit. 'Sources' can't be generalised. Some will be good, some bad. You don't need quotes and won't always get them you just need to realise which sources to believe. Jeremy Wilson for example is widely acknowledged as reliable re Saints. He never quotes his sources directly, but we know they are good. Likewise Simon Peach.

Got to win from this position, you don't get many better opportunities. Our bowling attack is so much better now than the first few games of the season.
