Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
Saint Charlie replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
How? He hasn't even signed it? Would be great news if he does, but if I were him, I would be waiting a bit, he will have a lot of good clubs in for him, especially as his price tag reduces the nearer it gets to expiry. Its a nice show of faith from the board, seeing as he is injured, but doesn't seem his injury has put other clubs off anyway. -
Crazy stat, but Man Utd will make more from Adidas, Chevrolet and Aon than the complete turnover of 14 of the PL clubs. Insane advantage, and shows why for players like Shaw it is a complete no brainer to join these type of clubs.
-
Caulker is going to Palace.
-
Cardiff must have huge money on the table wages wise for it to even be a consideration that he would move there.
-
Be interesting to see if either do sign new deals. Would be the first endorsements of the new regime from first team players. Hopefully happens soon and we can add it to the recent good news.
-
We play them and WH quite early, both of whom have been rather active. Be interesting to see how all the new signings get on.

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-transfer-news-southampton-7421892 Cardiff coming back with a second bid. Probably been encouraged by his Agent to force our hand re contract talks. Would suggest to me that no contract is hugely imminent. But Im sure others will disagree.

Fer to QPR, £6m.

I'm trying to cut the crap out, but I admit I am finding it hard. Bear with me. On the surface, I don't have any issues with the Board, but deep down I have suppressed feelings of anger about the way the early part of the summer happened, and some of the woeful public statements that were made. Slowly they are winning me over (since Ralph disappeared mostly) so hopefully if this upward trajectory continues then my heyday posts may resurface. However, if RK does any more terrible Solent/SSN interviews then I would place me on ignore (if you haven't already).

All I am saying is it is strange Cork hasn't signed a new contract. That is all. Pretty standard opinion to have - many others here agree. You have a bizarre fascination with me haha.
-
Suprising that Koeman said he hadn't had time to assess (surely its a complete no brainer), equally suprising that the club didnt have Cork sorted out months ago. In today's market he must be worth at least 6m or so, yet could walk away for free next summer. Many good things have been done recently, but it is strange this hasn't been sorted out. Im sure Cork is slightly bemused by it.
-
Everton interested in Cork apparently. Wouldn't be suprised to see him keep his options open until next summer.
-
Its Spurs that worry me with Schneiderlin. Poch loved him, made him a better player and it looks like Sandro is leaving, maybe Paulinho too. Schneiderlin would be their best central midfielder. Hopefully we can persuade him to stay. Would be massive for us.
-
Dutch press saying Clasie can choose between the top clubs in Portugal, Fiorentina and Swansea. Would think we feel that isnt a position we need to strengthen - most of our best young players are CMs.
-
Christ, I only pointed out that Jay Rod's contract is running down (which is true). Also said I don't think we will sell him this summer but of course that gets over looked. Sick minded? OTT a little.
-
Yeah location is irrelevant. Plus many of those who travelled will be as close to starting PL games as we are.
-
Im not worrying, just pointing out the situation which is what it is.
-
Newcastle doing some seemingly good stuff. Players with similar profiles to our signings.
-
Im just pointing out the situation. It won't help nor hinder as its just an opinion on an online fans forum. If Jay doesnt sign a new contract before the end of the coming season then we will surely look to cash in next summer (latest) rather than let him go for free. Honestly, if you were him, would you sign a new contract at Saints? If it were me I would see hows things go for a bit...which isnt ideal for the club.
-
Jay Rod's contract situation isnt ideal. Should have extended his contract when we had the chance in Feb. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/10578360/Luke-Shaw-and-Jay-Rodriguez-seek-assurances-from-Southampton-as-Premier-League-big-hitters-hover.html New board not done great in this aspect so far.

If I am right then what's the need for the misery guts comment?
-
He may have, but seemed fairly certain. Certain enough to make quite a spectacular outburst and totally undermine the club. Would be quite some u-turn in a week. It's in Lovren's interest to maintain his fitness, and to stay on good terms with Saints. Plus the fact he is contracted to be here, and isn't Osvaldo. But doesn't mean he wants to stay. This pre season there will be loads of players doing tours and friendlies etc who know they are moving or want to move. Pelle played last week for example.
-
Lovren is their because his contract says he has to be. Doesn't make him any more likely to stay. Koeman in his press conference said Lovren made his position quite clear when they spoke so wouldn't think anything has changed since then.
-
McCarthy is a defender. Already 3 keepers there.
-
So, which left back are we going for?
