Spot on. Especially when you add the fact that we never buy PL players so anyone we get will either be adjusting to a higher level and/or a new country, culture etc. The signings being good on the face of it is only half the battle. Could use a couple of good, solid PL players. Need one a week til end of window to do what we need to, hard to see us managing that and extending the contracts of Cork and Fonte.

Disagree on the bottom bit. If we get them we will have replaced Lambert and Lallana. We still need to replace Shaw and probably Lovren and Schneiderlin. Then anyway we needed another striker with Osvaldo going and Jay Rod out injured plus another CB to effectively replace Hooiveld and a goalkeeper. If not a wide player as well seeing as Pelle will need crosses coming into the box. Still loads to do, squad painfully thin.

No question we need to start seeing things happen very soon though. Nearly all that you say makes sense but is in theory rather than reality. Koeman had already left Feyenoord when we came in, he was unemployed so any semi decent PL offer would have appealed to him, I'm sure. He was touting himself heavily for the Swansea job when Laudrup left and they arent a massive club. Need actions now rather than words or people saying we have lots of time, first friendly not far away and we need to sign and gel a completely new attack. Unprecedented in the PL.

When the names of targets are out there for over two weeks there is always the danger of that happening. Could just be paper talk, could be something in it. We really need to get some deals over the line, need an average of one addition a week until the end of the window now.

Theres an Assistant Coach vacancy on the OS which makes you think they have the lead Coach. Probably an internal promotion - I think the Echo said that last week. Theres also an U21 vacancy now Hunter has got this new Technical Director role.

Interesting he knew in April MP was gone, yet it took us until mid June to have a new Manager in place. Lovren's comments obviously disgraceful, but does raise some interesting question, and communication to players from the club has been mentioned by a fair few players now. If you were Cork, Clyne or Rodriguez you wouldn't be in any hurry to sign a new contract just now.

Do like the look of him, hard to judge in Scotland though, wonder if a.) he is much better than Targett and b.) if either are good enough right now to play every week in the PL. Hard to know on both counts.

When clubs make official bids for players it is usually after having received encouragement from the agent that its worthwhile pursuing. Not saying Fonte's camp would be keen for him to go to Cardiff, but if we are getting bids for him then it would suggest to me that he hasnt signed a new contract yet. The bids then act as a hurry up to Saints to get it sorted. Hardly rocket science and nothing to do with being optimistic or pessimistic. Fonte hasnt yet signed a new deal so his agent will use interest of other clubs to get him a better deal or impress upon Saints the urgency to get something agreed.

Would say thats pretty much spot on, although could possibly get away with Pelle as a Lambert replacement and just one other striker. We would then have those two plus Gallagher and also Jay Rod to come back. Maybe even Mayuka as an option. Certainly need 8 though if Lovren and Morgan go and 6 even if they somehow don't.
