  1. Not sure, but Chambers has been excellent so not too concerned. Chiriches was back for Spurs last night so their back four will be pretty decent on Sunday, even if Vertonghen doesnt make it. Most likely: Walker-----------Dawson-------Chiriches-----Rose
  2. Very interesting. A good point is someone like Jack Stephens who looked class as 16, 17 and was in the Eng U18s or 19s squad, but is still miles off the first team at Saints...hasn't kicked on.
  3. England Youth setups are often clueless. AOC didnt play for any youth sides and went straight to the U21s.
  4. Violent Conduct is a 3 match ban isn't it?
  5. Fans always want to see signings, thats the reality. Its a buzz when you sign someone, even if its a player you have never heard of. I don't see us doing a lot in January.
  6. Sturrock
  7. There were whispers on here a while back that Shaw's contract includes an escape clause incase of NC leaving. All the players that signed new contracts mentioned NC as the main driving force at the club. Its pretty obvious that theres a lot of mutual respect between him and the players and that most of whats been done in a positive way since the takeover has been driven by Cortese. Wouldnt swap him for any other PL Chief Exec personally. Gold and Sullivan are WHU through and through yet a complete laughing stock.
  8. Are you one of those two blokes who handed in their season tickets because of the parking charges?
  9. Yes. I don't think there is anything cynical here though, its all pretty true and makes for good timing due to Spurs "interest". Basically another way of saying he won't be going anywhere.
  10. Pretty clueless. Thought we scored twice vs Villa, had confirmed no interest in Diego and clearly won't be going for Cesar. Other than that its ok.
  11. So you think that half the PL CEOs would do as good a job as NC if he left tomorrow?
  12. Interesting in depth look. I remember someone on here saying not that long ago that "pretty much any decent Chief Exec could do as good a job as Cortese."
  13. Basically, there is nothing serious to suggest we are interested in Begovic in any way.
  14. Only downside to the media's plan to get Hoddle involved is that he won't be asked.
  15. He isn't a huge threat from open play, but his crossing is very good. The "outsourcing" of attacking responsibilities is something that is obviously worked on and requested by the coaching staff. Our full backs on both sides play very, very high - and I think Clyne and JWP together have worked really well when both starting.
  16. JWP had the best open play crossing accuracy in the league a few weeks ago: http://www.bsports.com/extratime/leaderboard-crossing-accuracy-in-the-premier-league Technique the best part of his game. Bearsy - Can you add this thread to the end of season awards?
  17. What does your lad think?
  18. That was awful but Gazza's was worse because the kick hardly got out the area. Gobern's kick was quality.
  19. If that had gone in it was have been a truly woeful mistake.
  20. After Jos Hooiveld's oafish kick of thin air against Newcastle on Sunday it made me wonder what our worst kick of all time has been? Jos has a couple of other shouts with uncoordinated kicks vs Fulham last year and also brainless kicks on Van Persie and Tevez last season but they probably aren't the worst ever. Prutton's kick against West Brom the year we went down was poor, but what would you say is the worst Saints kick ever?
  21. Don't underestimate the following: - Poch's recognition that Cortese had faith in him when nobody in English football had heard of him. He was prepared to back him in a big way and MP also seems to have appreciated that. In the summer he said he would leave if NC left, and I don't think he would suddenly screw over Cortese. - Saints' vision with the Academy and getting players into the first team. This fits with MP's beliefs and isnt something that is likely to happen at some other clubs. - We have some good players, are playing good footy, and with a couple of additions arent really miles off Spurs.
  22. A midfielder incapable of hitting a 10 yard pass without it bobbling. But what a throw.
  23. Capello was also at the Chelsea game on Saturday for Italian TV. Lazy link IMO. Someone like Sean Dyche deserves a chance. Only reason Jackett hasn't been given a PL job is because his first name is Kenny.
  24. Pochettino won't be going anywhere.
  25. Good luck to them. Haha.
