Agree. Its our best lineup, assuming Clasie may actually get better with games. Having said that, he has already played his 60mins this week so probably won't make the starting lineup. Probably the best indication that whilst you can boost numbers it doesnt actually add competition. Nobody on the bench is really pushing for a starting place. The likes of Long and JWP aren't better or more likely to help us beat Villa than anyone who played on Wednesday.

If we had a better central midfield two we could play Mane behind Pelle like Bojan does for Stoke. Problem is none of them apart from David cover enough ground and are overly mobile. Wanyama was fine with Schneiderlin because he was able to make the recovery runs, but its pretty ploddy in there now, which combines with attacking fullbacks is why we are so easy to counter attack.

There is definitely a culture on here that expressing any sort of disappointment is a bad thing or is disloyal to the Club. Football is about ups and downs. You can't just pretend the downs are irrelevant.

Mane will fairly likely go though, most are aware of that. Clasie issue isnt about transition, he just doesnt cover the attributes we lost from the team. He seems unsuited to the PL. Not agile enough, easy to run beyond etc.

He just looks completely physically unsuited to the PL. The player in that position should have the most touches or passes, he is just bypassed and doesn't look agile enough. Probably a good player, but is he suited to our team or league? I am not sure. He is the guy we picked to replace the heartbeat of our side and he can't yet play 90mins, nor play more than once a week. I know he was injured, but expected him to be influencing things more in the games he has played. In fact its hard to really say he is any better than JWP?

Could Koeman go 3-5-2 to get Mane closer to Pelle? Could we do worse than getting Reed in the middle and asking him to kick people? Or just play the way we often do and beat a poor Villa side without radical changes? Slightly worrying that I can't really think of anyone on the bench I would bring into the starting XI.
