I'd think he would be competition/cover for the likes of Stu Armstrong and Charlie Alcaraz.
-
To describe him as a defensive midfielder is wrong imo as I think he is attack minded. Just watched his skills video from when he played at Blackburn and I couldn't believe how easily he glides past opponents sometimes getting past 3 or 4 at a time. He may have lost some of that ability but would suggest people look at that video because it is an eye opener. If he can recreate some of those skills for us he'd be a huge asset. Let's see.

Still confident we'll finish above Ipswich. We are a much better side and they will drop more points than us between now and the end of the season.

Arma has been brilliant all season- plays his position superbly with a healthy combination of goals and assists. Very pleased for him.
-
Nah, they're wide open at the back 🙂
-
Sunderland one up 🙂

Just watching Man City - is Pep trying to copy us?
-
So presumably the play after that when we scored the 3 goals must have been like watching Brazil at their best 🙂
-
3 points gained on Leicester plus a swing of 6 in goal difference. Nice.
-
What, between them and Leicester for second place behind us? 🙂
-
Cut me a slice please 🙂

Another comprehensive home victory. We are almost unplayable at St Marys now.
-
A goal and 2 more assists for Arma!

Leicester glancing over their shoulder nervously 🙂

This lad looks a very good prospect and is a decent size for a midfielder. Great to get him signed especially as there was interest from Prem clubs.
-
He'd be a fantastic signing but there are Prem clubs interested so he'll not be joining us.

It's an ok draw as far as I'm concerned. Reasonable chance of going through and if we do go out no disgrace and concentrate on the league.
-
You maybe right but let's see.He needs more time and my concern is that we move him on cheaply and he develops into a top player as I really think he could. Too early to be writing him off imo.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think Mara has had a decent run of regular games. I see a player with bags of talent and potential who is still very young and working on many aspects of his game. Perhaps a loan spell would have helped but Mara has been needed in our squad. There are enough positive signs for me to suggest he'll be a good player and maybe he'll be one who suddenly clicks into gear and goes from strength to strength.I don't get the lazy accusations being levelled at him - he's young and playing in a tough league and always puts a shift in. Hoping he develops quickly as, if he does, we'll have a very good player on our hands.

Agree with the views that this team has evolved into a very efficient outfit that can often be easy on the eye. Some of the goals we've scored by taking the ball from goalkeeper to attack have been superb. RM and his coaches deserve high praise for what they are achieving. I believe he's had to make some tweaks here and there but it's reassuring to see that he's not set in stone about how we play. The inverted left back position we adopt still concerns me but I'm guessing there's a good reason for it that I'm not aware of- it does seem to leave Manning stranded infield at times with oceans of space down his flank. RM's system is a lot different to Ralph's and does not take the same physical toll on the players which led to collapses and periods of matches where the side were too knackered to compete - I think Newcastle play similar to Ralph and it's noticeable that they are having the same issues with fatigue, injuries and energy levels. Clearly if we do get promoted we'll face far different challenges as Burnley are finding but that's the way it is. We'd need to strengthen considerably and would probably have to mix up the playing out from the back and be prepared to hoof it when the situation demands it. All in all very happy with current situation and the way we are playing.

To read some of the comments you'd think Wednesday was the team with the long unbeaten run 🙂
-
The Holgate and Stephens errors were just poor passes under no pressure so hard to blame those on playing out from the back. I don't recall us giving possession away too much yesterday when playing out from the back. I get that sometimes it looks a bit kamikaze and you find yourself wishing we'd just hammer the ball clear but I guess we just aren't prepared to make that compromise. In the Championship we get away with far more than we would in the Prem so, if we go up it'll be interesting to see if anything changes.

A few weeks ago we'd all have been very confident of winning this one. However, Wednesday have now won three games on the bounce so are clearly beginning to improve. I still think we'll win the game but they'll probably make us work for it.

There was a lot to admire about yesterday's performance. I'm particularly encouraged by the ability shown by the four youngsters as it shows they are being well coached and understand how we play. Meghoma looks to have it all although he was not overly tested defensively. He displayed a great aptitude to get forward at pace at every opportunity and partnered very well with Wee Man. Looks to be one who will soon be making the step up to the first team squad. Agree with others that it was a quieter game for SAA but I think that was largely because Fraser was so brilliant we constantly tried to get him the ball on the opposite flank. There were still little cameos from SAA to show he's another great prospect. Dibling came on and you could sense how much he wanted to make an impression. He was always direct and looking to get into shooting positions and clearly is a lad confident in his own ability. Bragg was not on for long but slotted in seamlessly and always found space and time to receive the ball and find a team mate. With these youngsters ready to bolster the first team squad soon it bodes well for our future.
