I lived in London for many years. I used to travel down on Saturdays to see saints....or go wherever they were playing. Then on Sundays go to see London Wasps play at Loftus road,then also to High Wickham when they moved there. Those weekends were great. A real contrast in the two days. Although both were influenced by a few beers. You could mingle with the players in the bars afterward and was so much more accessible. The matchday experience was always far better than at football. It helped that Wasps were fantastic and had so many well known players at that time. The games themselves were fantastic and exciting....never mundane unlike many football matches. Theo would not come to saints because of our perilous position in the Premier League. No other reason. All other conditions were met. And he was assured of further investment by Everton to push on to not only Maintain PL status...but to move forward. That is the overriding factor. Everton want to look ahead to compete in the PL. We are generally an apathetic bunch. I remember standing to sing ‘Lowe out’....and the bloke behind got all grumpy and we almost had a ruck because he thought all was well with the club. Quite amusing that we had to be separated by our own fans in a apologetic manner. None deemed it worthy to speak out against Lowe et al. No chance now of a cohesive demonstration or protest against the board or manager. I will quite happily organise/partake in another attempt at a meet at the Ted Bates statue prior to any game and show our displeasure at the running of our club. Might just get TV/Radio AirPlay.
