The standard stop and search is a blunt tool where as targeted SaS is much more effective. I remember when West Mids OB did a big anti-gang drive in Lozzells and Nechells and all the complaints as it was mainly young black men getting stopped. No one seemed to work out it was becasue it was young black men who were, in the main, involved in the gangs in those two neighbourhoods!
