  1. My grandfather and uncle both fought at Cassino. Italy's Sorrow: A Year of War 1944-45 is a good read and covers the Polish troops actions in some detail.
  2. I'm just finishing a book called Lost Voices of the RN which are 1st had accounts of naval life from both WWI & WWII. If you'd like to read it once I've finished it PM me your address and I'll post it down.
  3. I've felt, and said, for a long time that the club had targeted Wembley this season and automatic promotion next year.
  4. They loved it. The pair of them travel home and away with Corky and I and are well and truly hooked.
  5. Mine and Corky Morris's nippers were down in the front in the middle of the goal stood on the fence. My nipper was the one in the Saints baseball cap. Corky and I stayed right at the back and just kept an eye on them.
  6. Paternal grandfather served in Crete, North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Maternal built Spitfires at Supermarine. Lost family on HMS Hood and HMS Barnham and also had great uncles who flew Lancasters and others who fought in Burma and others who fought in Western Europe. Of all of them those who served in Burma seemed to have the most hatred. One would have nothing Japanese in his house nor would he get in a Japanese car.
  7. Just got back and haven't read the thread but we were crap. Really crap. Tactics were very wrong and as soon as it became obvious, after about 5mins, that the pitch wasn't going to allow our football to work, it should have been changed. James and Morgan were lightweight in midfield, Lambert isolated and the wide men impotent as everytime they attempted to bomb forward with the ball it bounced around like it was on a ploughed field. Still, my nipper got a hi 5 for Thomas and as he's only 7 it's the coolest thing, ever!
  8. TBF, they've all come out of it liking like c*nts, even the decent ones who claimed nowt have been tarred with the same brush.
  9. Eeeerrm. I know fans from nearly all the pro clubs and no, most don't. They know that pompey call us it but to 99.99% we are simply Saints.
  10. You'll have to go a long way to top "The Moat"!
  11. The are gambling the house of HMRC playing ball on Wednesday. Big 'kin gamble to take!
  12. Corp is never wrong fellas, he's proved that on this thread over and over again so why would be doubt his knowledge regarding ££ that they are due. How foolish we are to challenge his knowledge.
  13. Not to mention the luxury flats that the well heeled of London Town will use as their weekend bolt holes when they go sailing. The sale of them will pay for the new ground no problem at all.
  14. In fact, a better story and less known one, is the battle through Italy from Cassino to the crossing of the Po.
  15. The obvious story to make about the NA theatre would be the formation and employment of the Long Range Desert Group.
  16. The skates are just responding due to the relief, as they did with takeover number 2 and we all know how that worked out. :-)
  17. Got to Love Ho's predictions on this thread and they way he only has the balls to post if things are looking up. Gutless c*nt.
  18. The Cup could prove to be a fatal distraction for them.
  19. But SOG misses cracking one off over the previous chairman so it's no surprise his agenda is one of criticisim.
  20. Me like. Lots.
  21. I'll be there with Corky, Fat Dave and two sproggs.
  22. He'll also question why it was slow starting and feel it could have done so much better.
  23. It would appear that we have an owner and chief exec' who understand that playing the long game pays off in the end.
