  2. I would say buy as much talent as we could do get us back in the Prem. Meanwhile invest very hard in the academy, and more importantly in the Southampton area schools so that Southampton becomes a hot bed of football. Then in time we'd not need to spend mega bucks cos we'd have great kids coming through a great academy playing for an already massive club. Great idea as it is at the moment, the flaw is half the youngsters playing are barely good enough for the football league and the others that are ok, will in time become the journey men footballers that for some reason seem so disliked on here.
  3. I'm surprised Doddesy didn't do more to address that given he was in charge for 3 weeks outside of a transfer window...
  4. Well, 3-0 leads thrown away, Tranmere and Leeds to name but two in recent years. I hope these things even themselves out over time cos if so we are due for some cracking games soon!
  5. No. And I reckon it could be 20 years. It's been 15 for defo. Good being a Saints fan isn't it!! I actually AQA'd this yesterday and they didn't know either.
  6. That'll be when Mark Hughes scored a rare but crucial goal. The 'Great Escape' season! Great games at the end, great games. The 5-4 Norwich game, i think we we're 1-0 down but came back to 1-1 before falling 3-1 behind, so i suppose we did come from two down, but didn't concede the first two.
  7. Couldn't find the answer anywhere to this, apologies if i've missed it. Before the weekend, when was the last time we were 2-0 down away from home and won? I know we went from 1994 (3-1 v Coventry) to 2006 (3-2 v Burnley) until we won after conceeding first away from home. Also, when was the last time we came from 2-0 down in any game to win? In the 90's at the Dell i think we beat Chelsea 3-2 but were we 2-0 down?
  8. Subject to illness, KD Cork, Perry, Lancashire, Surman Wotton, Morgan S, Euell, Skacel Lallana Robertson
  9. To be fair to NP, Poke only came in just before ko (or was it even him that was injured and played?) and Hull were right in the middle of their current form that's extended into this season. Plus they might have felt they owed us one for the 4-0 at SMS?
  10. Killer's (or the PR team) have got a point thou. Still think the whole things would have been handled better if we'd have kept NP and not used every last penny we had bringing in League 2 type's in on loan. And if it wasn't Lowe and Wilde doing it, given it's pretty much their fault we are where we are. But we are where we are and this is my team no matter what and however crap this season is, and the next and even the next we will get better again and we just need to 'enjoy' the ride!

  12. This piece is a bit poor. Citing the Chelsea - Liverpool 'goal fest' on Sunday as an example to how we can score more goals, saying we failed to find the net in the last match (but not mentioning the previous two blanks as well) and then claptrap about supporting the team. The team has got off lightly in some of the games recently. Blimey, last week i thought the Saints support at Brammall Lane towards the end, although flat, was like we'd snuck all three points. Young or not, there has been some really poor performances from the likes of DMG. And in the 6 games i've been to i've not heard a cross word against the players.
  13. I thought Robertson got nothing against Watford, in his defence. I also thought Pekhart looked like a poor mans Paul Moody v Donny so i think it has to be Robertson that get's another start. I'm very very sceptical about Smith. Really hope i'm wrong, he had 10 mins in the 2nd half v Watford he looked like he might be ok, but to be fair, had the actual presence and ability of Dyer when it came to the final ball. I think we are actually running out of players that are fit or not loaned out to get even a half way decent XI tonight!
  14. I have a feeling that Lowe is starting to doing as he did in the Prem. Planning for the worst. If we go down, he doesn't want administration. Which is fine. Apart form the fact it increases the chances of relegation. It is a vicious circle, granted, but Lowe has entered us into it. Again.

  16. Fresh from my unsuccessful 7-1 shout on Tuesday i'm going 1-3 the Saints! COYR I'm nothing if not fickle! Just one more thing. CAN WE PLEASE LEAVE A MAN UP WHEN WE'RE DEFENDING CORNERS! BWP adds nothing to the defence and everytime we clear the ball it comes sailing straight back in. It's not just JPs fault, we're the only bloody club that does this and have done for 15 years, whoever's been manager!
  17. Much as i'd like to see Rudi there, reckon it's important for the XI from Tuesday to have another as they are to build on that performance. of course no Lancahsire but just a stright swap with Wotton there, or even Morgan if he's fit enough. I reckon Lallana will be ok but if not perhaps let Surman play a little more central?
  18. The Wayne Thomas i've seen play would be better than Lancashire. I'm not knocking having the young lad come in when we've injuries, but we shouldn't be picking him everyweek. Euell can play centre mid, he's experienced enough. Gillette, who didn't have a bad game yesterday, could be replaced.
  19. I don't really care who picks the team. So long as they have a bit of fight and have a good go, the rest will follow!
  20. Agree all round. Most important thing was it was solid, there was backbone. Even if we struggle I'll be fully behind that all day long. Still pleanty of room for improvement but we looked much much stronger than recent weeks, best i've seen defensivly all season. Perry for MOM. He mopped everything up and Lancashire, who i'm still not sure is good enough, looked twice the player with Perry's support. The other thing that was intresting was, picking the senior players free'd up the likes of Surman and Lallanna. All the United players were more worried about John and BWP. A good time to play United, didn;t look like they'd spent much time getting ready for the game but nevertheless much better from us. Skacel was ok, needs a bit of match fitness but that'll come. Got to keep them in the team.
  21. Absolutly agree.
  22. I don't remember McGoldrick getting abused? There was a few comedy groans when we saw him coming on but thought he was supported quite well. Agree it was quite an entertaining game, not a bad 0-0. Seriously though, it isn't rocket science is it. Pick your best players and look what happens!
