I just don't understand it. In away games he has looked decent, basically won us a point single handed against Reading and other than a few ocassions either hasn't had a run in the team or has been unlucky to get injured at key moments. He was just forcing his way into the side recently and had looked our best player on occasion and would have started quite a few more had he not been fit.
Weirdly, being injured and then recovering fitness has now translated into 'Adkins doesn't like/rate him' when I think there is little evidence to suggest that other than one poor moment in that home game on TV when Adkins was critical. Personally I believe Adkins sees De Ridder as an effective impact player and the sort of player who can change a game if he is introduced against a tiring opposition.
Does anyone else feel that the criticism of De Ridder is unnecessarily harsh?
