I know it's terrible. Even now soggy drones on about how much I hate Muslims despite my father in law, my wife's uncle, wife's cousin, my brother in law etc all being Muslim, some of them practising. I said thank god my wife wasn't born in a strict Muslim household and her father was liberal by Islamic standards because otherwise she would have had more restrictions placed upon her, wouldn't have been able to marry me, would have been hidden from view and missed out on a lot of what she loves in life.

He's crap and taking up a place in the squad that could be held by someone who is much better. Sell him and move on. Not every signing works out.

I don't want to give Mara a few years to develop.

I highly doubt we will get rid of Martin even if we go down.
-
@Farmer Saint. I assume you are no longer using this comment as evidence that I am a racist cunt?
-
My wife is half Arabic and has been called a fucking paki a few times in her life which is obviously nonsense. No doubt that racists who persecute someone due to the shade of their skin do exist. My sense is that these mobs consist of those types of people but also quite thick people along for the ride and the thrill of smashing something up or wanting to rail against the situation of the country but going about it in completely the wrong way.

There was a relatively sensible discussion going on and then soggy arrives with his guardian and James obrien talking points.

You think the sentence: "Two months? I thought he'd get 6 at least. Bloody labour soft on crime." Was me being serious? And less than an hour later I'd change tack and pretend it was a joke? For what purpose? Let's say for arguments sake that I was being serious. That would be a good thing wouldn't it? Because I'd have been calling for Labour to be tougher on the rioters and issue them with longer sentences. Even if it's not funny, how on earth does any of that comment make me a racist cunt?

What did I lie about?

TBF I know loads of Poles and have worked with a lot and almost all of them are hard working, law abiding and friendly once you get past their blunt exterior. I don't personally have an issue with immigrants that work and make attempts to assimilate. In my experience they aren't an issue.
-
It was a throwaway comment. I really wouldn't let it get you so agitated.
-
Genuinely - I have no idea how you are thinking that a lighthearted and innocuous comment I made about labour being soft on crime is me being racist. Have you misunderstood? Are you drunk?
-
Who is farmer Saint? I've never seen him much in the lounge and he's come barreling in all aggressive calling people cunts and throwing his weight around. I almost regret trying to secure him a playoff ticket now.
-
The comment I made on the original twitter screenshot was lighthearted you utter moron!

Bless.

Don't think I'll bother replying to you further except to say that attitudes like yours will not lead to these problems getting any better. I don't agree with your summation of the issues.
-
Why does it matter? Even if it's fake it was a joke post.
-
It's an account on twitter?
-
Not that it matters but I remember him saying it.

I've addressed that twice later in the thread.

Yes like I said it's a start. You're right though that legal migration has increased massively as well. A fair amount of it as whelk pointed out is necessary but not all of it. I'd like the UK to be more selective about it's immigration and ensuring that we aren't importing cultural norms that are incompatible with our society.
-
Lowering the levels will at least prevent it from getting progressively worse each year. You're right that it won't solve the problem completely but it would be a start.
-
Just dramatically reducing illegal immigration would make a big difference. Equating illegal migrants with legal migrants doing useful jobs isn't helpful and it's a different debate about what level we want legal migration to be. On a personal level I don't think it's acceptable to have growing communities that don't make efforts to assimilate into society. I think the government needs to be more confident and stronger about standing up for our values and being clear about what is unacceptable. On top of everything else, jumping the queue by climbing in a boat and then being able to stay is extremely un British.

The problem with Alcaraz is he's the sort of player you'd give extended game time to wheb you're most able and can afford to give time to someone rather inconsistent. He has potential to be brilliant but I doubt he will get the time here.
