  1. Absolutely. You'd think that would be one player we would be driving a harder bargain for over someone like Tino or Tella due to what he represents. Maybe we did have an agreement about him leaving following relegation.
  2. You're right. Thinking about it further, there's no way that sports Republic are just giving up this year and looking to go up next year. That would be pointless and cost them loads of money. Let's see if I'm wrong but I don't think there's any chance we sell another 10+ of our best players.
  3. Also they've publically stated they want promotion this year which they didn't have to say and which puts unnecessary pressure on themselves if we then go and sell the whole team. Why would we buy Shea Charles for 15 million and not a Plymouth player for say 1 million if promotion is not the aim? Why would we bring in an entire coaching team at presumably great expense?
  4. We'd be entering new territory for a relegated club in that case. I don't think any club has lost their ten best players before in one window unless they went into administration or something like that.
  5. I fail to see the positives if literally every decent player from last year leaves. It would essentially make this season a write off. I also don't get why the club would do that. Even if they all want to go, why would we allow every single one of them to leave with a couple of weeks left to source suitable replacements? I could see why quite a number of them would stay but all of them leaving seems unlikely to me because we simply wouldn't be able to adequately replace them in time.
  6. I woild be surprised if we sold all of them so late in the window. Would be pretty unprecedented if it did happen I would have thought. All relegated teams manage to hold on to a few of their players for at least a season.
  7. If we can get rid of Onuachu and sell Adams then we could get someone like Piroe as the marquee signing and Collins to bolster our ranks. I'd be happy with something like that.
  8. OK. Are you talking all our better players? Because that would be pretty hard to take. Once Lavia and JWP go we only really have ABK Alcaraz Adams KWP Sulemana Tella Who are saleable and we would want to keep.
  9. I don't think you need a source to know that! Preseason essentially pointless. Potential to lose Sulemana JWP Lavia KWP Tella Smallbone Adams McCarthy Lyanco Bree Onuachu ABK Perraud Mara
  10. At least if we're all pissed off at our demise, we can indulge in a bit of schadenfreude to make us feel better. Please get him Chelsea.
  11. Ronnie Edwards only 5 foot 11 whereas Santos is 6 foot 5. I really think we could do with some height at the back.
  12. All I was saying was that if he didn't want to start Bednarek or Stephens (which he clearly didn't want to) then there were really very few options which made it very likely that he was going to pick some players out of position. Anyway, the poster who went to the game on an earlier page said it was mostly Bree and Lyanco that messed up for the goals so I expect playing anyone other than Lyanco especially would have resulted in an improved performance. Maybe that's what he meant by getting the team selection wrong.
  13. He probably figured that we had other attacking players which made giving Alcaraz a run out for the last half an hour worth the risk. It obviously is a risk playing any player, you might consider it a small one but it's still a risk clearly.
  14. There will be risks at some point. In league games. I'd rather not take unnecessary risks in the cup this year. I accept that some people would prefer to but I'm with the manager on this one.
  15. I had a look at league one Aaron Collins seems like he did well last year. Could he be a second striker if we get a couple? Ricardo Santos - cb at Bolton looks like a powerful presence at the back. Conor hourihane- bring a bit of experience to the midfield? Still need a striker though.
  16. Any players worth pinching from league one? I know we were linked with Edwards who sounds like he's worth signing.
  17. He didn't want to risk Stephens because we have no alternatives to him for Saturday. Likewise Charles was played in midfield I think his normal position because he didn't want to risk Smallbone for the same reasons. All logical decisions imo.
  18. What would your team have been?
  19. So two players out of position instead of one?
  20. Reports from people at the game do not back this up. Ameyew supposedly performed well.
  21. Fair enough and that's a judgement call isn't it. It's certainly not some sort of giant managerial error, Simeu has never played for us nor has he shown any ability to do so (does he even have a squad number?)
  22. You mean the youth players making their debuts, Ameyew who played well or Armstrong who was excellent last week?
  23. So who is playing rb in your team?
  24. You're probably right. I get the thinking behind players bg Charles but if he were ti get injured we really would have been up hsit creek on Saturday. In some ways Charles being fit is even more important than Stephens if we don't have Lavia or jwp.
  25. The players were absolutely shite and didn't follow his instructions. Calling that out post match was the least they deserved.
