  1. He has a source in the dressing room. Has called numerous things correctly this summer including Manning.
  2. I seem to remember we got a few million from a sell on when we were in the lower leagues and it was really vital funding at the time. Can't remember who the player was though. Cb is right though that the players who go to the biggest clubs might as well not have a sell on because they aren't being sold until they're old and they will end up going to a smaller club for much less money.
  3. Saw this on twitter today and thought it was relevant to this thread: 🎙️ Sir Alex Ferguson on Alessandro Del Piero: "After a game against Juventus, Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville asked me to do everything possible to sign Del Piero for United because he had destroyed our whole defence. So I contacted him, but he refused to listen to my proposal. In 2006, when Italy won the World Cup and the match-fixing affair in Serie A came to light, I contacted him again, knowing that Real Madrid wanted him too. I was sure he would end up playing for us or for Real this time, so I said to him: ‘Alessandro, after so many years, I still want you. Don't go to Madrid, now is the time to come here to England. You will be the star of our team.’. He just laughed and replied: ‘Mister, I believe we already had this conversation several years ago. I respect you a lot, but Juventus have problems at the moment (relegated to Serie B) and I can't to be a coward now’. He preferred to stay at Juve to bring the club back to Serie A rather than sign for United.”
  4. I think they can relate having had similarly loyal players in the past. Losing jwp hurts because of what he represents more than his abilities as a footballer and Hammers fans can understand that.
  5. I'd say the fact we have kept hold of so many is the reason that we haven't signed much. Assuming Downes signs tomorrow, I'd say we need just two signings - a striker and a cb - and then replacements for anyone else who leaves. There isn't really a requirement to spend too much of the money we have brought in and actually we'd struggle to do so.
  6. I just want us to win a cup and maybe get to Europe again. That's only going to happen in the prem.
  7. Staying up on the last day was fun. Relegation was shit though.
  8. That won't happen in reality though will it. If we fail to go up this year we will end up selling our best players again and having another reset only with less resources than we did before.
  9. Well that's quite unnecessary. I asked you some questions that you refused to answer and then you asked me the questions instead which I answered. I specifically asked you for a ball park figure based on what you felt, I wasn't asking you for evidence but seeing as you've asked for it, what evidence do you have to suggest that there are a lot more "fascists" in the UK than the ones I outlined? Maybe the best thing to ask you is what your definition of fascist is because it seems our definitions are rather different. Would be nice if you could answer my questions seeing as I was courteous enough to respond when you asked me one despite the abuse I received in return.
  10. He was the willy replacement. If McCarthy goes we will replace him surely.
  11. It could actually end up being really important to our season to have a decent alternative to Bazunu if required.
  12. Sure. My view is at most we'd have a few hundred people in this country who are fascists. Probably less than 0.1% of the country. You fancy offering your view?
  13. Who are the fascist minority? How many people comprise it in your opinion? Do you have a percentage figure? Even a ball park?
  14. I'm not the one comparing Suella Flippin Braverman with Enoch Powell! People use the anonymity that social media provides to say horrible things on all sides of the political spectrum. What it doesn't mean is that we have a reds under the beds scenario of loads of secret "fascists" around every corner. The very fact you are bandying around these sorts of terms and pointing to social media as a reference (which was the very thing I pointed out initially) proves that you are being unduly influenced by the cess pit of social media. Are you old enough to remember a time before social media? I'm genuinely interested.
  15. I know what you mean but I can't help but think if we get him to leave without having to pay someone to have him, that's got to be the deal of the window surely?
  16. You couldn't make it up! OK mate have a good day. I really think you should log off to protect your mental health. Social media really isn't a reflection of real life. Are you old enough to remember what life was like prior to twitter? It really was much better because people like yourself were not presented with a distorted version of reality on a daily or even hourly basis.
  17. What percentage of the British public do you believe are "fascist?"
  18. You can vehemently disagree with everything Suella Braverman ever says or think she's a total idiot but when people start describing a modern day British politician (a minority no less) as a "fascist mouthpiece", it just makes them look completely unhinged and totally captured by the frenzy of social media. I think it's fair to say that the likes of twitter have had an overall negative impact on society and things like this are the proof. Also hilarious that you'd highlight policing language as a sign of fascism. If that's the case then every political party would be guilty although the ones on the left to a much greater degree on average (see the opprobrium dished out to the likes of JK Rowling as an example.)
  19. I'm not the one using words like fascist. FFS get a grip.
  20. "fascists" spend a little less time on social media and go for a walk.
  21. Genuinely if I were a player I'd be considering saints over some of the lower prem teams and certainly over the likes of Luton and Sheffield United. Big chance they will at least be in the same league as us next year and possibly we coukd swap places
  22. When you say asked about Edwards, did we ask and then consider it too much or are we actively interested?
  23. That may be true. Doesn't really change anything I said though.
  24. Even then, Stephens and Bazunu would not get in anyone's best championship team. KWP likely to go IMO so definite defensive reinforcements required.
  25. Yep. Downes, a top lower league cb, someone like Grimes and a striker and maybe a winger is not going to break the bank and will cost at most 50 million. Hopefully we can keep the rest in reserve for future seasons or recoup some of the losses from relegation.
