  1. If true, I don't understand how we can plan properly for the season. You'd hope that the manager can be confident of some of them staying at least.
  2. Yeah I reckon Holgate.
  3. I think it will be interesting to see if something like the City project can translate to something with a smaller budget. Is it the alignment and the setup that gives you the success or is it the endless amounts of cash? Guess we will find out.
  4. What percentage of global emissions is the UK currently responsible for? Should we continue with the banning of petrol and diesel cars for expensive electric vehicles with degrading batteries so less of a second hand market with an electricity infrastructure that doesn't exist? Should we be forcing expensive heat pumps into people's homes and ban gas boilers? Should we ban trips abroad or give citizens carbon credits? The performative climate conferences are just for show. They all swan in in private planes and so called climate ambassadors use helicopters and private cruise ships whilst the poorest are some of the ones hardest hit.
  5. It's not bollocks is it. Are you seriously telling me that if we do what just stop oil and extinction rebellion want, that the likes of China and India will shut down their coal power stations and do a 180 degree turn in the timescale required to make a difference? Of course they won't, they're full speed ahead for their growing middle classes who quite rightly want more for their children and so will continue. The answer isn't to do nothing, it's to put all our efforts into mitigation, technology solutions and to allowing us to live with the effects of climate change. You seem to be saying that if the UK does it we will somehow be able to influence larger nations to such a degree and with such speed that we will be able to stop it. I'm saying that's just not going to happen so then the question becomes what do we do then. That's what we should be talking about. This from six months ago is worth a listen:
  6. So you're saying that net zero policies haven't made people poorer and won't continue to do so?
  7. So again, we massively hobble our economy and make people poorer and less comfortable chasing net zero whilst the vast majority of other countries and the worst offenders do comparatively very little. If the UK has no effect either way then what's the point? If the outcome is the same then what we are doing is not only harmful to ourselves but utterly pointless too.
  8. Now you're getting it. I'd rather do nothing than waste an enormous amount and curb people's freedom and spending power only to end up in the same place anyway. All these climate conferences where people jet in on private planes etc are a total joke. The ones lecturing people on the climate are the ones with the biggest carbon footprints, the whole thing is ridiculous.
  9. I do not know much about this topic but I read somewhere that the air is now the cleanest it's been and that the studies about asthma were wildly exaggerated to allow Khan to push through his policies.
  10. No offence but China is just laughing at people like you. It's a complete fantasy to suggest that they will listen or change quickly enough to make a real difference. I'll just concentrate on living a happy and fulfilled life knowing there's not really anything I or my country can realistically do to stop things. I hope those that can start innovating and coming up with technological solutions to live with the climate changing. I'll leave it to others to lie in motorways and piss everyone off or sink into a depression about the climate that they can't do anything to alter.
  11. It's not making anything worse because we are insignificant. All it's really doing in the short term is hobbling us as a country and bringing down our standard of living so we can virtue signal and feel good about ourselves whilst being a total and utter irrelevance to every other nation. What we should be doing is working on technological solutions and mitigate the effects of something that in my opinion is now an inevitability.
  12. I'd definitely have Smallbone in the squad as backup. It's a long season.
  13. Yes but i don't hold out any hope that we are going to bring one in who will be challenging Bazunu.
  14. I think he's great at what he does, I just don't really see him as a captain. Surely part of his job last year was to uphold standards and in that respect he failed.
  15. We don't need to know the identities but we heard about the cliques and different dressing rooms last year. Some players need removing.
  16. Personally I think getting rid of some of the more corrosive elements is more important than any signings.
  17. Let's say hypothetically that we do everything that just stop oil and extinction rebellion are asking for and Britain reaches net zero pretty quickly. What's the next step? Because we have precisely zero influence over China and India and even if we could do anything, they won't be changing anywhere near quickly enough to make a tangible difference.
  18. Fair enough. I thought they'd done more. I'd still have liked us to do some earlier business ourselves though.
  19. I wonder if we will look back at this upcoming season in May and wonder whether we should have sold a few earlier and cheaper. Leicester will be a good comparison this year as they seem to have done a lot already. I can't help but feel like a little disappointed that we dint seem to have used our early relegation to our advantage.
  20. Always seemed like a good bloke just a bit weak mentally.
  21. I'd happily have them in the squad nut we can't be relying on them to come good or we will be in the same position as last year. Regardless of its quality the squad needs a refresh and the players we have brought in so far are just replacing players who aren't really the main problems (Lavia, Perraud or kwp).
  22. Yes but I was working in the assumption that one of Tella or Sulemana will leave.
  23. A block of wood. It has more influence over the team.
  24. Getting in a top cb, midfielder, striker and maybe a winger will be more than enough for me (arguably only the first three will be sufficient.) With those additions, the club really should have enough about them to be up near the top of the division.
  25. Good point!
