https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c2k4jg0wkj4o How can this be permitted? Do the people involved have the surname Mengele?

I'm not detracting anything. We played poorly in the previous two games and won the games. We played extremely well in the first half of this game and won the game. Let's take stock after Leicester and Millwall. If we play similarly then regardless of the result you'd have to say he's made a strong case for himself.

In all politeness; fuck off.

It's a magnificent result and brilliant first half but I do think at least some of it was that Charlton played very poorly. I'd like to see this performance repeated in other games before I proclaim Tonda as the answer. Great start though.

Nah

Fatima whitbread, Kelly Holmes, Christine ohurogu, even someone like Nicolas Adams. None of them were criticised due to their skin colour.

Daley Thompson is one for me.

Judging on posting style I always imagined more to be some sort of distinguished elder gentleman figure. This anecdote has rather punctured that particular mental picture.

I heard a stat that trans people are less likely to be murdered than an average member of the public but much more likely to kill themselves. Might have been US centric though.

Thinking that Bellingham is a bit arrogant, not much of a team player and whilst incredibly talented acts like a dick at times is racist apparently according to Ian Wright. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/ckgkg1d49v7o FFS it seems like so many black people in the media are at it recently. Lenny Henry is another one. Is it possible to criticise Bellingham for having a poor attitude without it being because he's black? Rooney got both barrels when he had a go at fans down the camera for how he acted.

I don't think you're going to find many or even any on here that doesn't agree that liberal use of the N word is offensive. The examples you used earlier were rather more difficult to find offense in though- hence my earlier post. Fry's point was that simply being offended by something doesn't strip the original comment of any purpose or somehow make it wrong. Use of the N word is wrong in almost all circumstances, not because you might personally be offended by it but due to its racist history and because of its use in appalling acts of racist abuse. I don't believe that applies to the posts you highlighted earlier.

I think it's a fair point about levels of representation for a fan board. I haven't looked in great detail but after a browse it does appear to not be the most representative cross section of the fan base. I think it's true to say that in recent years initiatives like this attract certain types of people on average who are into identity politics and some people would prefer to keep that element out of football where possible. Taking the piss out of the way people look is a bit below the belt for me personally but I'm not sure in what way it's homophobic. The comment about safe spaces and the one about appointing spmepne who ticks a lot of boxes is meant to be humorous clearly. It's a fact that we engage in a lot of this performative identity stuff just like every other club does. Some people love it but others would really rather it wasn't in football at all.
-
What's the equivalent of that in this thread? Mostly the bits you have highlighted are just people taking the piss out of the people on the fan advisory board. Not particularly kind or pleasant I agree and not something I engaged in but I fail to see how it's homophobic.

No he was messaging her because she has previously refused to speak out against abuse of children.
-
Not only that. If there is an offensive and homophobic post that I've missed I want to join him in condemning it and asking it to be removed.
-
I assume you're being intentionally vague because you don't want to specify any post in particular because people will likely disagree with you.
-
Maybe we should have done the same for our squad. I'd have loved it if Bazunu, Stephens, THB and Archer had been sold in the summer.

I was led to believe that Still was a bit of a prodigy. In reality not the most impressive numbers given the context.
-
There's about 75 pages of people talking about realistic options they would be happy with. About twenty pages back I gave six names.
-
How does a 50% win ratio at Monaco compare with Will Still?
-
All appointments are a risk to some extent but I'd take him over Tonda.
-
Feck off.
-
I don't want it to happen but the knives will be out for Sports Republic if we lose this something like 3-1. They will probably be forced to give Tonda the next two after this as well and it could get very ugly.

It was a good start and he deserves some credit but the manner of the results (lets remember it's been two games, one of which he had a couple of games to do anything) is pertinent to the discussion. You could argue that QPR away was comparable to the sheffield united game in that they were two poor teams low on confidence and we managed to scrape over the line in both when we could easily have lost given how much we gave to the opposition. No one can seriously laud the sheffield wednesday performance as our most comfortable win in 18 months as if that is a big achievement. They have half a team and are forced to play their third game in a week with the same group of players because they have no alternatives. It's most likely the easiest team we have played over the last two years.
