  1. The issue is that the hordes of people on welfare or those who want the state to provide everything for everyone get the same vote as everyone else so no one is going to get into power without pandering to a certain extent to groups who want support for their faction.
  2. There's all sort of stuff that the NHS pays for now that should have no chance of public funding in a normal society.
  3. If he leaves in the summer I feel it will be a big missed opportunity if we are in this league next year.
  4. Not sure I agree with most of that but what we should be doing with the NHS is stop it being all things for all people. Concentrate on the things that matter the most and have excellent care in the most important things. Stop wasting NHS money on ridiculous things that shouldn't be covered on the NHS. It was never designed for half the things it covers now and it's a bloated mess.
  5. The high court would have ruled it to be illegal. Preventing the electorate from being able to vote for two years is not on regardless of whether there's a reorganisation going on or not. It has rightly not been allowed to happen and is a further embarrassment for the government. I wonder what certain people would be saying if it was reform in power inviting councils to cancel elections. No doubt stupid words like the word fascism would be being thrown around.
  6. Of course those councils took the opportunity to stay in power a little longer. They knew it would be a virtual wipeout for Tory and Labour. Not sure why they were given the opportunity to opt out of democracy given it's now been ruled to be illegal
  7. Might as well stick a bloody prayer mat facing mecca in the centre circle while we're at it.
  8. You can consider the game secular, not be a fan of Islam and still not object to a short break in play.
  9. I just don't see the big deal with a small break in play to allow people to eat and drink something because they haven't done so due to their religion. I don't even really agree with the or the silly rules of the religion but it's obviously going to affect a fair amount of them so from a health and safety point of view it seems like a sensible thing to do to minimise further risk. It's not like they are postponing the game. In an ideal world no one would do it but we don't live on an ideal world.
  10. To some degree but it's not like they just randomly decided to do it. They obviously feel compelled to do so due to their religion.
  11. I'll be honest I don't know loads about it. All a bit silly really but if they're in a position where they haven't eaten or drunk anything then I can see why they want a break so they can.
  12. Not sure why. It's purely a health and safety thing surely and doesn't really change things much. I played football in the evening once in the middle of summer with a bloke who hadnt eaten or drunk anything all day. I thought he was mental.
  13. As always when this stupid argument is brought up by people who hsould know better, if it was miles cheaper to employ women then all employers would be doing it as a quick way to get their costs down. It isn't of course because like you say, it's not actually.Comparing the same jobs against each other, not accounting for hours worked.
  14. One of the stupidest articles I've ever had the misfortune of reading.
  15. In a sea of oddball comments thats about the weirdest.
  16. And people have voted to lower immigration for years now, governments have come to power promising to tackle it and it rockets up every time.
  17. What did Lewis goddall on lbc say about it? I noted you mentioned the talking pou t about bits living in Spain yesterday straight after he had said it on his radio show.
  18. Actually pathetic. I read this a few days ago and was appaled and sickened. Why he thinks anyone would be anything other than that because this piece of shit has white skin just shows what a twat he is.
  19. Because if you are portraying a period of time, it is sometimes important to portray things in a somewhat factually accurate manner. My movie posters above highlight that point quite well.
  20. Pretty unsurprising given how polarising Farage is. If you were spinning it you could say "Nigel Farage has the highest percentage of those polled who view him as very favourable." Not sure it's that accurate anyway as I'm sure many in the general public wouldn't know who Ed Davey or Polanski even are whereas everyone knows Farage and Starmer.
  21. Agreed. It's just artistic representations. We can all be grown up enough to suspend out disbelief. Well pointed out soggy.
  22. Indeed. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem.
  23. Whilst it's not colonisation and I don't think that's a good term to use, I am concerned by the rise of Islamic independent MPs in Parliament and what they represent. I can't imagine they will go away any time soon and are likely to grow in number.
  24. It's not just immigration obviously, like Jim said it's a welfare Bill that is horrendously high as a result of expectations that the government have to look after and do everything for everyone. A bit like the SEND stuff which has ballooned in recent years to a ridiculous level when really it should be a targeted level of support for those who are at the greatest need. Reducing the welfare bill and resetting expectations of what we expect from government should really be the absolutely priority for government before we talk about things like growth.
